2025 BaseVols Projected Lineup/Roster

Any surprises here? I know numbers were tight, seems like it got cleared up for most with FR redshirts and medicals. Only real omission I see is Jaxon Walker, seemed like he's made a play or two in most games.
Tweet doesn’t show full roster. Walker is on the Official TN roster. Active or inactive isn’t distinguished.

V almost always gives the first nod to the upperclassman. I knew Bargo would be in there somewhere but I wasn't sure he was athletic enough to play outfield.

Here’s my guess at final roster.

Somehow I missed Ben Martin from my neck of the woods. He’s a big Freshman 6’4” RHP out of Allatoona High School in Kennesaw, GA (suburb of Atlanta). Makes 53 total players…

It's early, but looks like Clark/Newstrom/Grimmer may deserve to be starters vs. Bargo/Backus.
A handful of ABs in mid Feb does not a season make. 🍊👍👊👊😀👍🍊🍊 I expect great things from Bargo and Backus this season. It was awesome to see the freshmen get off to great starts. It’s a marathon season and really like TN’s depth, but expect experience in the SEC will help the vets come crunch time.

Based on what I’ve seen, I would be shocked if Osuna plays any meaningful innings at 1B. He will be a platoon DH and pinch hitter off the bench.

After some quick research... MLB elite players run the 60-yard dash in about 6.5 seconds, while average players run it in about 6.7 seconds.

Jay Abernathy ran 6.38, he is a menace and will almost certainly be in the starting lineup often.
Abernathy is very special. I wonder if he’s the fastest player in the CTV era. Guessing Seth Stevenson would be a close 2nd.

Great to have as a pinch runner in key situation. And plenty good enough to stay on the field in many positions.

And Stevenson was coming out of the righty’s batters box, whereas Abernathy is coming out of the lefty’s. That’s a 2-3 step head start trying to beat out an infield single.
