I understand Dawn’s frustration, but the No. 1 overall seed just doesn’t lose on their home floor in February by 29 points. You just can’t defend that.

Not to mention they lost the head to head against No1 overall UCLA.
Dawn is a very performative coach. That is part of her greatness. Given her teams level of success it is easy for them to get a little complacent and she is always looking some imagined slight to motivate her players.

I am sure she knows full well that UCLA was more deserving of the top slot but her job as coach is not to be an objective analyst; it is to find any possible motivational edge.

So, the current mantra is that "we have been royally disrespected by not being the number one, #1 seed so team, get that chip on your shoulder and lets show those SOBs who the real #1 is."

I get all that and agree. I just think the performance needs an update to be more believable in terms of current reality and to not be mind numbingly predictable.

In general life, I'm just old man sick of the obvious ovrrdog trying to play underdog. Its lazy and insulting

I am deeply disappointed that you expressed a small degree of exception to my post. When you look at the totality of my posting schedule and the adversity my posts have had to overcome, complete and unwavering agreement is what I have earned. If this is the standard going forward, I will have to reconsider my strength of posting schedule and only post on easy topics. This egregious disrespect will not be tolerated. Rest assured, I am now very motivated for my NCAA tournament posts!!

Nah, not a steady. I gave the tix away a lot.

She texted me when she went to a game without me for the first time and said how sad it was. Then by halftime she texted from a suite where she was eating free food. Had bumped into a new friend whose Dad is a big donor. My baby has definitely grown up!

Huuuuge shout out to Andraya Carter! Just noticed she picked UCONN to win it all! Not sure I would even pick UCONN to win it all given their mostly pitiful post game. I always liked Andraya as a player and commentator, but to put aside her Tennessee loyalty and pick the Huskies is just remarkable! I have a lot of respect for someone like that.

First round possible "upsets"... (best shots at an upset imo):

12 Fairfield over 5 KState
10 South Dak State over 7 OKSU
8 Richmond over 9 GT (technically not an upset)
12 Ball State over 5 OM
One of the Ivy schools should pull an upset

Yep, I see a lot of HCs use that MO and I think, oh to be so young & innocent that you buy in and believe all that smoke and go on a rallying cry.

It still works with the college aged players apparently. For those of us who played sports in college and can remember those type of circumstances, whatever your coach was feeding you at times like that you ate it up if you were competitive. It used to not be done in the open, before SM, times have changed but the strategy is still being employed.

Psssst! Dawn doesn’t give a tinker’s damn what you think. As MTV pointed out, she has an audience of about 15 young ladies. Us spectators? We are expected to grumble and cuss.

I'm fully aware and don't give a tinkers damn what she thinks about what I think or that she doesn't think about it aat all.

Remember I'm the one constantly reminding the delusional around here that nothing said here has one iota of difference in the real world. Its just random opinions.

Before the season started and everyone was making season predictions, I said then that if Connecticut is 100% healthy at tournament time I could see them winning it all. I said that, and then I said, "Ugh."

Well... Ugh, ugh, ugh, ugh, UGH! I believe that is still true. Draya obviously sees what I see. I hate it, but it is what it is. JuJu won't be enough to keep them out of the FF, and once they get there ... 🤮

That was crazy. So 16 seed William & Mary lost 7 of their last 8 games in the reg season, then goes on to win 4 straight games & their conference tournament. Their record was 15-18 & they just won their 1st ever NCAA tournament game!
What a story, that’s what defines student athlete.

It’s a natural feel thing all around, I don’t disagree. Hope I am wrong.

The way I see it, her "performances" are for her players, not for anyone else, and they likely don't seem as predictable to young people who aren't yet experienced enough at life to even KNOW it's predictable. To them it's all, "Dayuuum! She's so right! They ARE dissin' us, so we're gonna prove them wrong!" Auriemma is the same with how he always uses reverse psychology -- every season. We who are familiar with him (and Dawn and, really, nearly all coaches) and his annual schtick think, "Surely that can't keep working." But again, every year that schtick is going to be all new to some players, and only a few years to others, not decades of it like we old people see it happening.

Whatever motivates their players is what they should do, IMO.
