"Girardi, who’s the daughter of former MLB manager Joe Girardi and younger brother of FIU infielder Dante Girardi, was an important part of a state championship as a freshman and even better as a sophomore. The 6-foot wing averaged 23.3 points, 12.8 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game, and already holds scholarship offers from Pittsburgh, Northwestern and several Ivy League schools."

Looks just like her dad...

We’re due for a number 1 class and I have a feeling this one will be it. I can’t wait to see how the dominoes fall for this class!

Not saying you're right or wrong, but is there any indication that Tennessee is in good shape with any of the top 20 players in the class? That's ultimately where great classes are made...

Yep we seem to be stuck fishing in the 26-50 pond. Then we hope one of them grows into a top 20. It's a hurdle we definitely need to clear.

Do all these offers even mean anything? Do coaches just throw offers around like this after big exposure events? Just seems like you get an offer, and you get an offer, . . .

It seems like we’re moving in the right direction with offers at least. They may be loosening some of their checklists.

I'll take the 26-50 pond if the ladies want to be here and put their heart in it over a top 20 recruit who is only looking for a pay day.

Of course. Who wouldn't? But I don't think it's a zero sum game. Got to be some top 25s who check all those boxes. Competition is strong for those, but that's the pond we need to be in to consistently compete for big things. And all our recruits don't have to come from the big lake, we can still roster fill with smaller fish. We have to get back to that mix though IMO.

In this I agree
MOST of the top 25 are so for a reason,,,very few top 25ers don't pan out to be worth the effort
Recruiting top 1-10s is something that needs to be done to compete with the top 5 teams
As Pat Summitt's Dad said, "You don't take donkeys to the Kentucky Derby

you can coach most anything: heart, athleticism, mind-set, work ethic, skills, decisions, mentalities,,,pretty much anything thing that can be instructed or change (yes you can change mental tendencies,,,people change their mind all the time)...but you can't coach height.

and this is the only thing to me that can't be coached
the other thing I won't teach is "passion for this sport"..as Pat once said to a small group of us at an SEC women's tourney...("I will coach anything but passion, if I have to teach you to love my game, I don't want you"

You are talking about Rae Burrell and TK… they turned out ok ! Just Saying!

Definitely must fight for top 10 recruits. Definitely must get top 10 recruits. Even if Tennessee tries and fails; they have to at least try. They gotta. The field of prospectives is smaller than some sports, better dissected, and more concentrated at the top.

Now's the time I would dust off my "the #1 ranked recruit in each women's college basketball recruiting class almost always wins a national title" post with the numbers and the ranking stuff and things.

But it's hot and I'm lazy so I'll just reference it and hope it sounds legitimate enough that I don't have to do any real work. Just keep coasting 'til November. Too hot for summer tiffs and scuffles.
