2025 Recruiting

I don’t have time until tomorrow to post the most recent ones. But why you think track and football aren’t dual sports…they are…you kicked out track so you could be right.

Yes. The firm I work for has negotiated contracts for hundreds of college coaches in a variety of sports. It's my business to know how coaches operate in modern college sports.
Football is a winter sport and track is a summer. Sport track is a complimentary sport that does not teach mechanics That are adverse to football players

As for Hurst looks like a no brainer that she would sign with Tennessee. An hour away from her home seems to be an ideal situation. If she wants to play both sports think it would be Clemson cause she could start on the volley ball team and probably work herself into some playing time on the basketball team as they are still in the rebuilding process. Tennessee if she plays volleyball she will probably be on a volleyball scholarship and just join the basketball team late December or January as a player that wouldn't have to be counted in the 15 scholarships. Probably could work into the 7 to 8 minute time slots that two or three players have now. Full commit to basketball she could go double that time on the court as she is a super replacement for what Darby and Puckett do for the team this season.

Finally and may not be something the volleyball coach would accept. She could walk on to volley ball play until November 1st then on to basketball scholarship on that date full time. Just hard to develop your game completely in one or the other if you can't devote full time to either.

We're about to find out who the real Insider is between coach jumper and newladyvol.
Not claiming insider knowledge,,just instincts

Kim is a true basketball coach and no BB contender-coach is going to let their star BB player run around in shorty-shorts, learning mechanics that are adverse to BB mechanics and in an ongoing sport that runs simultaneous to your season.

I say this out of respect to Coach Kim and if she does let this transpire, my trust in her will be lowered exponentially

CLemson is not a top BB contender,so I think she lands there

Your regular mentioning of "running around in shorty shorts" as an insult is offensive. And sexist. And tinged with misogyny. You might ought to nix that ish on public view unless, of course, you just want to come off like that.

It is hard. But it’s possible and should be allowed if coaches believe it’s in the player’s best interest. This black and white pronouncement trend by posters is incorrect and boring.

Exactly.

If Breanna Stewart had been a volleyball phenom in addition to being a multiple MVP basketball prodigy, it seems quite a stretch to say that not one single power conference coach would have allowed her to play both.

In fact, I'd bet the farm that are quite a few who would embrace the opportunity if that's what it took to get a dominant player who could instantly elevate the team's fortunes. They allow players to play in Olympics. They have players miss a significant amount of the season while recuperating from an injury (missing all that practice time) and the players rejoin the starting lineup.

Regardless of what some coaches might say they'd do, I'd love to see that "no two sport" assertion tested if a generational player came along who wanted to try. The coaches who turned her down would (or should) feel pretty stupid if her two-sport college won a championship or two with her.

I thought this was supposed to be the era of trying new or unorthodox approaches.

If she wants to give both sports a try dead on Clemson does make sense cause there are not a lot of players to beat out in either sport there. Tennessee she could make the volleyball team easily or the basketball team not both. Just to much to learn and most of the pre-season will be gone after volleyball is over.
I think she came here to play volleyball that Kim would be willing to let her on the team after that season concluded. Playing time would be a different situation don't see her playing much. If both sports I think it would be volleyball full time and a token player in basketball. The other way no volleyball and a fulltime basketball player.

trouble is, if you make an exception for one, you open the door for others...IMO

Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders played both College Football and Baseball in College. Then done the same exact thing in Professional Sports ..

how many years ago?

I believe Deion even played both sports on the same day
but to that I say,,,How much greater a FB/BB player would he have been if he had directed his off-season to one or the other

I can't remember a single thing about him in baseball (never an all-star....and I LIVED in Atlanta during that time-frame)),,,but I can remember to this day, him running down one of the greatest receivers of all time (Jerry Rice) when he was fully two steps behind Rice

Not a problem for them to be sitting on the bench if their scholarship is in another sport and you have extra bodies to work with in practice and if injuries occur. I don't think she would be getting a basketball scholarship here if she intends to play volleyball. Maybe I'll be proven wrong we'll see.

I'd like to see the coaches make a push for Makeer since she has decided not to sign early. She fits our system more than any of the systems of her final teams. Wished they would try to get a visit out of her she would be a star player in Kim's system.

I'm hoping she chooses to basketball at Tennessee. She can be an elite player has the skills to be a terrific player. Like I said before perfect replacement for Darby or Puckett has that three pointer we need.
agree a thousand fold

the key is,,chooses basketball

But here it is nearing the end of her recruitment and Volleyball is still a very visible part of the discussion

I will put it into another perspective,,,you saw how noticeably the team looked tired in the back to back games,,,ball consistently hitting the front of the rim,,,now imagine those same athletes playing Vball instead of resting between those games

I agree not going to be able to play both here. We'll find out today if the coaches are giving her that option. If they do I think it will eventually fail just to much work and knowledge needed to pull it off. So we wait.
