2025 Recruiting

In women's basketball, both Nebraska and TCU are ranked in the Top 21. Tennessee is the only one not ranked at this time. We'll get there, but for right now, voters have more confidence that Nebraska and TCU are contenders than they do us. 😕

The new roster limits that are proposed to go into effect in '25-'26 will have an impact on potential two-sport athletes as well, in my opinion. When a coach could have as many walk-ons on the bench as they chose, having a player who would not be available for a significant portion of a season made little difference. But, when that slot has to remain empty, it would make a huge difference, at least in my thinking.

Good grief, Coach J.

Willie Gault, Alan Cockrell, Todd Helton, just to name a few former Vols who doubled up on sports at UT.

two simultaneous sports, not two winter/summer sports

Apparently you don't like it when you have been corrected. Any team which is ranked and from a power conference is a contender. Plenty of teams outside the top 10 have been to the finals and some (Tenn included) have won it all when ranked outside of the top 10. You said you would eat your words if proven wrong, nobody here expected that you would admit your error. Same as it ever was. Character matters.

fear the horns and corns,,not the real contenders...if you count anyone who makes the tourney,,,i'd have to acknowledge 66 plates of crow

If you are not in the elite 8,,you are not a contender for the title in my eyes

Your regular mentioning of "running around in shorty shorts" as an insult is offensive. And sexist. And tinged with misogyny. You might ought to nix that ish on public view unless, of course, you just want to come off like that.
yes, kinda shocking remarks coming from the self professed lifetime "girls" coach, isn't it?

Your squirming is not going to change the fact that there are some ranked teams in the top 25 from P4 conferences that have done exactly what you said was not happening. If a ranked team is not considered a contender in your book that is simply because it fits your agenda right now, which is to avoid egg on the face at all costs.

Half of the espn voters don’t even know we have a new coach. Unserious organization.

If this past wnba season didn’t show you that idk what will.

I detest soccer for its starting the "participation trophy"

In Volley ball you don't have to have endurance and you jump off of two feet and rarely forward,,,NOT A FAN

And re the hot-pants outfits,,,not a fan.
ANd def not sexist unless it is thrown in my face
I can very much appreciate beauty in basketball,,,Rickea is drop dead gorgeous, smart and athletic,,,I respect and admire that about her,,does that make me sexist?

Look, I agree that Nebraska and TCU are no South Carolinas, and that their chances of being serious contenders at the end are slim.

BUT, they are both respectable, fairly regularly ranked, programs within P4 conferences -- so they aren't chopped liver.

I also agree with you that any two-sport athlete -- Bo Jackson included -- is likely to lose at least a teeny bit of their full potential in spreading themselves thinner than one-sport stars.

Where I disagree with you is when you say no good major D1 coach "would allow it." Any that are narcissistic a-holes, sure, you might be right.

But a good and confident coach these days is going to recognize and accept that sometimes people just need to TRY things. To see what they can do and/or what their limits are. You should know this about exceptional athletes.

If a kid wants to try it, they should go for it. Their college years and careers are THEIRS to navigate and enjoy. They don't belong to coaches.

I'll post where and how I want to, thank you very much. You can put your idiocy elsewhere if you please.

Still have a good feeling Hurst will be a Lady Vol, just makes the most sense from a number of perspectives for her.

Still think she’s only playing basketball as well. Truly just seems like she enjoys it more even though it appears she was technically a more decorated volleyball player.

Just keep moving the goal post and you'll never be wrong!

I agree. Hoping she's not trying to not hurt her college volleyball player sister's feelings!

She'll be a good one, wherever she ends up, and being a Tennessee girl I'll try to follow her career. It'd sure be sweet if she were a Lady Vol, though.

So now he's a "lifetime basketball coach"?

I only wish I had a dollar for every post where he has told us that he was a "girls " coach, maybe I could afford season tickets...

Even Pat Summitt knew she had to adapt to change, CJ.
