2025 Recruiting

My take from watching Cooper play in limited minutes last season is that she was similar to Saniya Rivers as a freshman, but not as good. She didn't have Rivers's handle/court vision and couldn't get to the basket as effortlessly. She may have been a scorer in high school, but it was not translating well to the college game given how poor her FG%, 3FG% and FT% were. I think "work in progress" is probably a very accurate description.
Almost my exact assessment as well. I would add she has a lot of natural athletic talent and quicks as well. Maybe she has refined her shot....

Combo guard one and two. I expect her to play one of the wing positions. I think we'll go three guards with the present roster. If no point guard in the portal we could go Cooper at point guard she has that ability. I'll just say we need at least four better players and we need some players to transfer out. I know that seems harsh, but we have two or three that would be better on another team.
Sometimes the truth can be harsh but nevertheless it can still be the truth

She's a lot like Kaiya Wynn, but based on this year, I think Kaiya is starting to work out some of her issues and able to leverage her athletic ability to compensate for some technical shortcomings. I think Cooper can do the same as well, but people need to be patient with her. I think it's unrealistic to think she'll step right into Jackson's departing shoes given how little college playing experience she has.

Marta signed with Cal in May 2023, her mom passed away in August 2023. Had the dates been flipped that would be plausible.
She also missed a whole semester when she went home to be with her mom. She missed a lot of time due to injuries and probably just wanted a fresh start

I’m very skeptical of these numbers people float out there for up front money, don’t believe they exist in WBB to those levels. Nobody is going to convince me that HS WBB players are getting that kind of money upfront, esp when you compare that to FB numbers for most. Someone would have to show me proof that JuJu got $750k.
^^^^ a lot of hearsay of numbers being tossed around but nobody can verify or go record. NIL the new excuse

Wynn has a long way to go, I just don’t like how she goes for layups, it’s like she just throws it up and hopes it goes in.

First time I saw her chest three point launch, I knew that the chances that she would be a college star were slim. 6'4, but shot can be blocked by a 5'8 player. I got thoroughly roasted here for doubting her (and Kaiya Wynn's) perceived abilities.

Not sure who else offered her, but she was pretty much a consensus top 15 recruit so Kellie wasn't the only one that got bamboozled.

I think it came down to she had such good measurables that many coaches thought "I can get her to play to her potential". But her entire demeanor on the court is passive and low effort. Let's say she is a JJ Reddick mainly 3-point shooter - that's fine - but she should be stuffing the stat sheet. Where are the rebounds, blocked shots, assists, using wingspan for deflections? Two good tactical coaches have not been able to get it out of her. I think Ralph promising p/t was the worst thing that could have happened to her; she needs a completely different mindset.

Couldn’t be an in-state staying close to home and family. Has to be NIL on why we lost out. Nothing wrong being an orange tinted glasses fan but not everything is NIL. Family I’m sure has great relationships with all 3 schools
No orange tinted glasses here. No ties to TN whatsoever. Although I enjoy the atmosphere around Knoxville and the history of the program above most. Just a person whose job currently revolves around girls high school basketball, particularly in the summer. Throw some common sense (seriously lacking these days) together with the knowledge of interacting with so many players and families and that's me. Assuming, unfortunately for the LV, that my guess of Williams not choosing UT and the report is correct with Oregon being the choice then what is your next guess that doesn't have the letters NIL in it? I've heard playing close to family and home is above $. Oregon is a long way from Oklahoma on my map. Then someone said winning trumps $ for most kids. Or culture. Well, Graves and the Oregon program are a mess. I was recently there and they had no one in attendance. They led the country in transfers out after last season, are 11-16 with more 15+ point losses than total wins, and, until now, have no top 25 players to help recruit. I do know who is headquartered in their back yard and is offering "assistance". "Fans" who can't see bigger problems beyond their dislike for a coach, UT or anywhere else, are part of the problem. Or not really fans.

When I first saw the Oregon prediction, I immediately thought “Nike money.” I just didn’t say it because I didn’t want it to seem like I think that is all of our recruiting struggles. I just think it’s probably the majority for the elite high schoolers.

So you think Pissott is living up to her high school reputation now that she's a starter?
She is a sniper,,,always was, that is what she does
We let her go, she's starting
She's # 11 in 3pt %...Jewel is 12 and Tess, the sniper we kept is #27

She was never a post/rebounder and never will be
She is what she is and one of the best in the SEC at it

We didn't know how to use her and we don't know how to use Tess either

Sorry,,,nuff said

Well I had heard there was a great chance that the coach at Oregon was getting fired. Guess if he can get a top class maybe another season. Problem out there is so many players transfer out after just one season. I'm glad the ruling came down now we will see if it was a problem before cause there are totally no road blocks to telling players what you have to offer in NIL and opportunity. I think it was a logical excuse that you couldn't offer high school athletes NIL deals legally. Now you can so if we can't recruit now there is no excuses and any problems we have money or coaches need to be solved.

She is shooting 34.6 percent from the field and in 27 games is averaging 0.3 rebounds per game. She may be starting, but they have people coming off the bench that are playing a lot better. The coach is using her over 20 minutes a game and she is responding with nothing of value for the team.

Oklahoma is close to the new realigned Big12 that Oregon will move to.

It certainly levels the playing field for Tennessee with teams that have been breaking the rules. If we get nothing from it then this staff and that collective have to go. This is the new way to recruit. Pick out the top three players you want and go get them every year. Then get a couple out of the portal and your in business of building a great team.

Last year Vandy was 12-19, 3-13, 12th place, not even a consideration for the tourney
This year they are 19-8, 6-7 , 7th place and a bubble team
And she starts,,,good night

Hating her/me,,,doesn't make you right

Please don’t compare Pissot and Spear, they both shoot 36.2% from 3 but we know Spear takes way more tough shots and shots while creating, Pissot and Tess u can compare since they are about the same in skill.
