2025 Roster is Concerning

As someone said earlier next year is a wash anyway and the absolute best we are gonna do is 9-3. Not counting a dumb road loss that we have every year.

Until Huepel revamps the staff and learns how to compete on the road any schedule with more than 1 good road team and UGA on it is basically a guarenteed midtier bowl season.

The two examples you provided are both bad comparisons. The WR for OSU is in a league of his own. You are dreaming if you don’t understand that. He will be a 1st rounder, potentially #1 pick. There are no other comparable players in CFB right now.

Your memory of arch is different than mine and anybody else who pays attention. He in fact did not look that great this year against any team with a pulse. He got thrashed by UGA both times he touched the field, and only looked decent against crappy buy a win teams.

Grow up and stop making dumbass comparisons like that.

Look man, that game Saturday was painful for a large number of reasons.

While I admit my posting has been dire the last few days, it's the way I see things currently.

Smith is a great player. Why can we not get a Smith then? See where I'm going with this?

The fans have been begged to give and give. Some/most of us have. I have no issues with paying top dollar for very nice things man. I'm not Bill Gates but there is a dollar or two in my wallet.

What I do not like doing is paying Porsche prices for a 1984 Ford Escort. I'm sure you don't either at the end of the day.

You can jump on me all you want, but I'm just being honest and I don't think I am the only one with these feelings.

This is the world the players wanted. Once you start taking a check the world changes. There are expectations involved. Did I expect to win Saturday night? Nope. Not in the least if I am honest. I at least thought we would put up a fight though. Hell, if we were gonna get rolled we might as well have started running some really nutty plays. Nope. Two runs and then a screen. Same old tired crap we have seen for two seasons that works great against Akron. Against teams with grown men, not so much.

DL loses Omari Thomas, James Pearce, Norman Lott, Simmons, Bailey and Eason

The only WRs we have are Brazzell, Squirrel, Mathews, Staley….. all the others are true freshmen, graduate, or are in the portal.

Razor thin at Safety as Brooks graduates, we lost Hayward (a top 100 kid), and didnt have anyone highly rated in the class.

And while we were busy prepping to lose a playoff game, all the big portal guys got gobbled up.

Deep trouble next year.

We will have a young roster next season.

I don’t even give a damn about the 2025 roster. With all this flim flam, social media, post it on X BS….thank you for my time as a ….fill in the bank….. but I’m entering the transfer portal…..love ya… mean it.

I didn’t like you to begin with b*tch…. Hit the road

Year in year out.
Offensive line is an issue. 10 years and counting
Look like garbage on the big stage.
Opposing QB plays like a Heisman.

Year in year out, no matter who's coaching the team.SOS.
Heard an almost unbelievable stat the other day, on Sports Source, I believe. Josh Heupel just finished his 4th year as head coach at UT and has never started an offensive lineman that he recruited out of high school. Either they aren't 'crootin' O linemen or they aren't 'crootin' the right ones, it would seem.

We still have a ways to go roster wise to compete in games like this. We have a walk on at safety where as they have multiple top 10 players at their position in their respective classes we are having to play less talented guys it’s very frustrating but obvious. If we don’t spend more money on the NLI and transfer front we will continue to be passed by teams who spend more. Go big orange it’s a critical point in college football and Vol history
This is it. Talent wins. Recruiting at the top is extremely important. No team is going to win the SEC or the National Title with walk-ons and mid-assed 3*'s. It's never happened before and it never will.
LSU is loading up. Georgia and Texas are still going to be there. Alabama will be back. Florida has a pulse (that we should have destroyed at Neyland but didn't). A&M is working. South Carolina is a wild card. It won't be easy to hover around at the top of the SEC standings like we did this year. And of course that means no playoffs.
2025 is a critical point indeed.

I tried telling people that this was the year for the run and not next year. I don't see better than 10-2 next year. Maybe 9-3

Eason probably will be back. Bailey and Josephs likely back as well. Adding two olinemen via portal. Lines are going to be pretty good. Kitselman looking at getting another year. Safety I agree we need to add via portal. Really need an elite wr via portal imo too but looks like we’re going with the kids we recruited; they going to need to grow up fast.

Going into year 5 of heupel and we're still talking about concerns with the OL is inexcusable. Same goes for WR....Kelsey Pope just ain't cutting it

Just a jimmy and joe issue. Nothing to do with coaching. That’s what I was told here anyway.

Different roster next year. Maybe you just should throw in the towel now and not watch though.
We’re losing mostly any playmakers we had this year. None of our young guys stepped up and looked like all stars. I’d love for you to enlighten me on why you think we will be better. 8 wins. 9 tops. I’d hate for us to be realistic.

I’m really not seeing the problem here. Our dline still has numerous guys with experience and talent.

You named 2/3 starters returning at WR and our two promising young backups.

Yes, we need more safeties and will get at least one in the portal.

So you’re deeply concerned because we need 1-2 safeties?

You haven't been impressed with B. Carter, A. Carter, Pearce Jr, Nico, Sampson, Gibson, McCoy, or Josephs? None of them?
Yeah they’re pretty good lol. A lot of the recruits have played well outside of last game. We mainly need to stack classes and get some of the younger guys along faster. Obviously getting better recruits as much as possible each year is necessary too. Hopefully 2026 cracks the top 7.

The concern is depth at WR and the fact that none of those starters performed at a high level.

You have one injury there and you have no one. And none of those were able to do anything against the best team we played.

I have no doubt they’ll address the depth aspect. WR performance is a multifactorial thing. Oline, QB, and WR all contribute to that.

QB performance should be improved. Offensive line is to be seen, but Lt improved a lot through the season.

Overall we have talented fast guys (Braz, Squirrel, and Matthews). Adding some depth with a transfer and getting Brayley shouldn’t be massive hurdles. Also how we play doesn’t require massive depth at WR.

Oddly enough. I see our record being worse but the offense more exciting. 8-4 but closer to the offense we expect giving us hope headed into 2026.

Wow. Trying the band aid fix in the transfer portal or another guys finds. We definitely need that fixed.

The first year you have almost not input in a class.

So that means we had one bad recruiting class on the line (year 2). And then the question becomes “why aren’t any freshman starting”? And the answer is that we obviously don’t want that in most cases.

So I really don’t see it as a concerning stat.
