2025 Seed Watch Party Thread

Doubt it works out this way, but if we managed to get the last 1-seed AND score the worst 2-seed in Wisconsin as our draw, sign me up instantly. I wouldn’t be scared of the Badgers at all.
I’ll sign on the 2nd line right after you. Would be a marvelous draw. Still have some work to do. Gotta close out these next 2 games strong. Also, with as tough as the SEC is this year and with how we started out at .500 in SEC play through 8 games, I would’ve never thought we’d have the chance to still finish 2nd in the league. Win these next 2 games, and have Bama beat Florida and then lose to Auburn and we will be the 2 seed in the SEC tournament.

Jaxson Robinson going to miss the rest of the season, too. At some point, that has to play a role, as well.
True, another unfortunate thing is their 2 wins against us is helping them stay at that 3/4 line. We win both of those or even just our home game then they probably wouldn’t even be sniffing a 3 and closer to a 5 seed.

Update before what’s obviously a massive Saturday for Tennessee…TeamRankings has us at 97.2% as a 3 seed or better so definitely feels like that’s our floor, 85.2% at a 2 seed or better so that’s moving closer to being our floor, they have our chances of a 1 seed currently at 27.8%. Barttorvik has our chances of a 1 seed much more favorable, currently at 44.8% which is good for 5th best according to them, narrowly behind Alabama who’s at 45.5%. It was already obvious, but worth repeating, this game likely shapes the ceiling for both teams moving forward, hard to see a scenario (not impossible) where the loser ends up with a 1 seed.

Updated seed list:

Auburn
Duke
Alabama
Houston
——————————
Florida
Tennessee
Michigan State
Wisconsin
——————————
Texas A&M
Kentucky
St. John’s
Iowa State
Have the percentages for 1 seed chance updated yet? Also got to think 2 seed is our floor now after bama win.

Edit: If I found the correct percentage on team rankings then our 1 seed chances only went up to 36% while bama is still at 52% and Florida is at 49%? Am I looking at that right?

Yes that’s correct. TeamRankings still has Houston, Bama, and Florida with a better chance of landing a 1-seed but that’s not accurate. Especially with Bama’s remaining schedule and what our resume is already like. I think we control our own destiny now for that 1-seed. Win the next 2 and I think that will be enough.

This. Bama will beat Florida in Tuscaloosa on Wednesday, then Auburn will beat down the Tide again next Saturday. We just need to do our part.

If that plays out, which i think it will, does UT finish #2 or #3 in the final SEC standings? We'd have the same record as Florida and Bama but we spilt the season with FL.

If TN wins out, Bama beats Florida, and then loses to Auburn…. We’d finish tied for 2nd and would be the 2-seed in the SEC tournament

For SEC standings we definitely want Bama to beat Florida. Not sure what we want for our NCAA seed line though

I would think the same thing. Florida still has 1 less loss than us and are ahead of us in the NET. I think Florida owning road wins over Alabama and Auburn and being ahead of us in the conference standings would probably give them the last 1-seed over us. SEC is probably only getting 2.

I think you’re probably right, but it’s contingent on Auburn, who will have nothing to play for really, beating Alabama later this week after bama beats florida

Auburn will be super motivated to beat Alabama at Neville Pavilion on Senior Day. This isn’t like the pros where teams pack it in after they know their playoff seeding.

True, I shouldn’t have said nothing to play for. But less than they would usually. But Bruce certainly knows how to motivate a group regardless

Not saying they can’t lose to Bama, but I doubt any Auburn player would ever mail it in against them.
Especially on senior day. Broome and Baker-Mazara would never let that happen, and Pearl and the coaching staff damn well wouldn’t, either. Championship teams bring it every night.

Some guys that I follow closely on Twitter that have finished towards the top of the rankings in Bracketology the past couple of years still have Alabama as a 1-seed (#4 overall) and TN as #5 overall. Pretty much stating Alabama has to lose another game to drop below. I don’t agree with them. Tennessee should be the one controlling their own destiny.
