Things could obviously change, but Maleek Thomas says the schools in the mix for him are mainly UCONN and Arkansas.

Mentioned other schools like K-State, Miami, Pitt, and Indiana. Will commit before senior season starts

Big fan of Shon Abaev as well. He's just a really good all around scorer imo, instead of primarily an outside shooter...with great length. Can attack the rim, great mid range and 3...I'm glad we jumped in early on his recruitment.

I was watching the VQ mailbag edition on You Tube yesterday and Brent Hubbs speculated whether Barnes would sign more high school players in the 2025 class or hitch his wagon further to the portal.

Hubbs also told a story about Kevin O'Neill being whisked away in a Toyota Tercel and giving Hubbs a middle finger salute as he passed him.

Hubbs also talked about the extracurricular activities that O'Neill had in Knoxville and how his wife heard about them and that is why he took the Northwestern job despite Summitt's pitch for him to stay at Tennessee.

I’m guessing it’ll be fairly even. That’s the best way to do it.

Not sure how many spots we will have, but maybe something like 3 transfers and 3 HS kids

On paper right now we return 5 at most, and that’s without a single transfer out…so looking to add minimum 8, IF you’re trying to get back to 13. I would be looking to sign 4-5 high school kids this year if at all possible, imo ideally you’d like to be in the transfer portal for 2-3 players each year.

It’s the new normal. 4 or 5 now and then could happen as well. The mid majors and below are evolving into developmental programs with most of their top players moving to P5/6s (or whatever it’s going to be called now that the memberships are transitioning).
