Emery Worldwide

Yep. Apparently now part of UPS.

Wiki: On 8 July 1988, a defamation suit was filed after a package was opened in transit in Los Angeles that included a video tape containing cash allegedly for an NCAA basketball recruit (Chris Mills) for the University of Kentucky. The package was identified as being sent by then-assistant coach Dwane Casey. Casey sued Emery Air Freight for $6.9 million but settled out of court before trial.

The LA Times 8/1/1988:
A motion has been filed in federal court to have the case involving Kentucky assistant basketball coach Dwane Casey’s $6.9 million lawsuit against Emery Air Freight Corp. moved to Los Angeles, lawyers for the defendants said.

Attorneys representing Emery have also filed a motion in U.S. District Court in Lexington seeking additional time to prepare a defense.

Casey’s suit, filed July 8, is based on the alleged circumstances surrounding a package he is said to have mailed March 30 to Claud Mills, the father of Kentucky recruit Chris Mills. The package was found open in Emery’s Los Angeles depot. A story in the Los Angeles Daily News quoted several Emery employees as saying the package contained $1,000 as well as a videotape.

In his suit, Casey says Emery and the other defendants are liable on such grounds as unlawful disclosure of information, invasion of privacy, defamation of character and negligence. Casey seeks $6,966,950 in compensatory damages and an unspecified amount in punitive damages.

In an unrelated development, the Lexington Herald-Leader reported that the NCAA is investigating Kentucky for the recruitment of Ohio prep star Lawrence Funderburke, a 6-8 forward who will be a senior this fall at Columbus Wehrle High School.
Chuck Kemper, the high school’s basketball coach, confirmed NCAA investigators were in Columbus asking questions as recently as two weeks ago. Kemper said the NCAA is interested in the involvement of Bill Chupil, a Columbus-area talent scout and Kentucky graduate, in the recruitment of Funderburke.

If Chupil is found to have acted as an agent for the university, it could result in additional charges against the university. Last Monday, the NCAA lodged one charge against the university for recruitment violations and said approximately 10 more would be forwarded within the next 30 days.

I’m hoping Keon sticks around 2 years and we see:

Chandler
Keon
JJJ
Banchero
Smith

The first and maybe only five 5* starting roster at UT

Only way I see Keon sticking around (at this point) is if the season is cancelled due to COVID-19. Even then it's no guarantee. We get these pre-season hype moments about players every year, but most of what I have read about Keon is he is the real deal.

Maybe nit picky but right now isnt Banchero more suited to the post than Smith? Not that it matters terribly much anyway. Would be awesome to add a bediako type to the mix w those guys. Moving Uros/ORN/Pember

Why do you say that? Not sure anyone can say w confidence before the season has even started, let alone w season related covid issues
The updates we see here are mostly lauding Johnson. They're making it sound like he has the potential to be one of the best ever to suit up in orange. On the other hand, the only report on Springer that we've seen says he's out of shape...tifwiw

Who said he was out of shape? Only report i've seen of anybody being out of shape was Walker.

Both players strong suit is the 4; however I think their positional versatility is a little different. To me it looks like Banchero has the versatility to potentially play some minutes on the wing if he can defend on the wing. Banchero has a very similar game to the new era Blake Griffin except not as bulky. I’m guessing Banchero is more interested in playing more minutes at the 3 than 5. Being able to play the wing would help Banchero’s draft stock. Smith reminds me of Kevon Looney; however I’ve seen some say KD. Smith seems more like he’s best as a 4 or 5.

Oh I’m sure he’d rather play 3 than 5. I’m just saying between he and Smith who is more suited for the post

Smith and Looney have similar perimeter skills, but I'd say at the same stage of their careers that Looney was a better ball handler, and was certainly more physical of the two, but that's a pretty good comp. For a Tennessee comparison, Jabari Smith reminds me of a rich man's Drew Pember with infinitely more upside, skill, and pedigree.

PB doesn’t strike me as being the same explosive athlete as Blake Griffin - am I missing something?

You're not. Blake is a different level of athlete compared to Paolo, but wasn't nearly as polished as Paolo at that age either.

I think Blake's modern game is a good comparison, considering he doesn't rely on his freak athletic ability like he once did.

I found that report, it was a Basilio blog. I did forget that he also stated that Springer is better than anticipated, and is "one of the Vols' better players." It just stuck out that he said arrived in Knoxville in "C+ condition and is going to have to ramp it up..."
