I’ll admit, that is less of a glowing review than I expected. The fact that he is still entertaining another visit at least indicates Auburn didn’t blow him away. Maybe we still have a shot.

What these kids say in an interview is rarely what’s going on. He committed to a criminal the first time based on an emotional connection. I’m sure he’s a lot more cautious now. I’ll repeat what I said before: Both his parents like Barnes. They told him they’d like to be at UT if they could meet the NIL deal that USC met. I think we’ll hear in the next ten days. I’d say sooner, but the Ignite invite is a weird curveball. The only new information I have is that the coaches are MORE optimistic after his Auburn visit. Of course they could be wrong, but I think they’re encouraged that he didn’t melt and sign this morning.

I'd have to think that Phillips will get all the minutes he wants if he's the player everyone says he is. Who's gonna keep him off the floor? Kid would likely be the best player on the roster next season.
