'22 SC SF Julian Phillips (Tennessee commit)

Also, not sure where the narrative is coming from about ON not being a good enough rim protector, he literally led the team in blocks per game in SEC play even after he missed the rest of the season with injury.

The per 40 numbers give Aidoo the pretty decisive edge, but ON was no slouch at protecting the rim. He had the 2nd best block% among qualifying players on the team (Aidoo 1st), and he had a defensive box plus/minus of 3.1 for the season.

ON isn't a good enough rim protector to justify starting him at the 5. He's not tall/ long enough nor has the defensive iq to overcome it.

Josiah averaged the same bpg as Olivier

I just don’t know how much different Osun would be than another year developed Nkahmoua/Aidoo/Plav. His numbers are similar to Nkahmoua and that’s A10 vs. SEC, also a 1 year guy so how attractive are we to him?
The big question is, can we get Lofton without Osun? And if we can't, and we're not willing to take both, where do we turn for PG help?

Thats my question. They are both looking for guaranteed starting spots and minutes. Without coming out and saying it publicly, I think we can just about make that kind of commitment to Lofton without making him believe it will just be handed to him regardless of the work he puts in. I'm not sure we can make that commitment to the big fella. If they are hell-bent on playing together, that might be the deal-breaker.

Technically, yes. But, I haven’t see any real news about momentum there. Doesn’t seem like we’re much of a real contender.
If we miss on Hunter and Lofton, I have no idea where we turn for PG help. Is there anyone else in the portal they like? I'm very skeptical of BJE being able to come in and fill that role as a freshman.

Good for them. It's legal. And basketball is more important to Louisville than football.
Actually it’s not that far a part now. It probably will swing back with Payne, but they were kind of done with basketball when Chris Mack was there.

Aidoo will likely be the best 5 we have had here in a long time.

Courtney Ramey & Grant Sherfield are 2 names…Sherfield there’s some hesitancy because he has used the 1 time transfer, so he would need a waiver.

Olivier gets a lot of unwarranted hate on this board. If he were in the transfer portal a lot of the same people would be saying Spyre should throw a couple hundred grand at him.
I don’t hate him- just think his game is limited. He’s 100% a quality SEC player. Idk if he has the capability to be successful at the 5 though.

I agree that we need immediate point guard help. I love ZZ but w need depth and ZZ/Chandler were fun to watch when both on the floor. Plus another ball handler is critical to slash the lane and against full court pressure.

Hopefully he will have a breakout yr with an off-season to work on his game plus get stronger/quicker.

How do you take Sherfield if you can't guarantee he gets a waiver? Nothing against the player, but we need someone who can contribute now, not a year from now.

I wish Spyre would step up with an attractive offer for Hunter.

Not about that the problem is Barnes isn’t going to guarantee a starting job like others teams are doing
