I‘ve noticed Ky fans in Rupp Rafters talking about Wallace. After a flurry of posts about offering him, today it seems as if they realize that KY won’t offer because they are too far behind in recruitment. My UK buddy that follows their recruiting pretty hard says UK won’t offer Wallace.
-VQAssistant coach Mike Schwartz will be camped out at the Peach Jam where Tennessee target Cason Wallacewill be. His all around game has been on full display in a loaded event where he ranks third in assists (5.5 per game) and is in the top 20 in rebounding despite playing on the wing. People we’ve spoken to who have seen him this summer feel like he could definitely play point guard at the next level.
The feeling we continue to get is that Tennessee is in very strong position here. One source we spoke with this week felt that unless Kentucky were to offer and put on the full court press that Wallace would end up in Knoxville and even then the Vols would be tough to beat. Some in the recruiting world feel like John Calipari is reluctant to offer because he doesn’t want to deal with criticism from fans if Kentucky loses a head-to-head battle with Tennessee for a five star guard two years in a row after Kennedy Chandler turned them down a year ago.
I saw some UK fans say that they might pull Clark’s offer bc of injury. Doesn’t make sense since he still has his senior year to rehab like Keon Johnson did.The thought is they’re going to land Shaedon Sharpe soon and that if they offer Nick Smith they’ll land him too, that gives them 3 highly ranked guards along with Skyy Clark…at this point a UK offer would be a bit surprising.
I’m super excited about the promise of the 2022 class. Barnes really does have things rolling on the trail, and while last year was disappointing but it was really the first year of our recruiting success starting to pay off. The future is shaping up really nicely for us.
