25 days till we run out of diesel fuel

We can’t refine it. But drilling more would lower the global price of oil, no?

Not if OPEC says differently. We pump more, and they can limit output ... if they wish. It's a shame when domestic prices are controlled by global markets because it undercuts the ability to set policy that addresses domestic needs.

@Septic made the same observation.

Assuming they were willing to cut production in the short run - how long could they keep up that strategy?

As long as they need to. They also broke the back of the fracking industry by undercutting and dropping the cost of oil to the point where they just bankrupted them.

OPEC has deep pockets and the US Oil industry knows it. I doubt they have any intention of getting into a footrace with them - OPEC doesn't answer to share holders.

On a side note, we're 8-0 and it feels great to be a Tennessee Volunteer!

Good question; probably some OPEC members wouldn't be happy with cuts. I can't imagine that a few like the Saudis would be seriously hurt by trimming production. When you get right down to it, producers lose through competition if there's a production glut; that's the whole point in manipulating the game. OPEC is just unfortunate that we are a very capable oil producer and not an OPEC member. Earlier this year, our producers were not ramping up production because they were making more while doing less - takes discipline to play that game, though.

If we stop exports, that would mostly nullify any production cuts that OPEC would make because that domestic oil will not be on the global market.

They are making the same amount of money (or more) with these production cuts.

I cannot believe you guys still listen to this guy. Might as well get your news from Trevor Noah.
Trevor was used as a narrative driven opinionist for 6 years, just like Jimmy Kimmel ( girls on trampoline fame) and Steve Colbert. Not hard to figure where their marching orders and the late night narratives were coming from. They certainly were funny before but once they saddled up with the progressive liberal agenda it all came off as straight up propaganda and lame.

And somehow you believe Tucker is different?

Yea, he isn’t/wasn’t playing with that either.
He's an entertainer pandering to people who want to eat what he feeds them. He's literally saying "oh let's say that they will love it."
And you take it as reporting or close to factual. He would tell you Trump murdered Paul Pelosi if he thought it would play to his audience. And hide every piece of evidence that said otherwise.

I am afraid we have crossed the bridge and can never return. Businesses cannot complete capital projects on the whims on the wind that change every 4-8 years.
Going to get worse and it is going to decimate the economic growth of our nation and personal finances.
Biggest dumb move by any power in world history. America will never be the same. The Feds are going to have to spend trillions in subsidies they do not have. Epic disaster.

That's their plan all along

If there is no concern about gasoline supplies while we are worried about “running out” of diesel fuel perhaps we should post a primer on how a cracking tower works?
