#3 back at Daytona

You are aware the "3" car is the same team that won 4 races last year and finished 3rd in points with Kevin Harvick? The only difference is the sponsor and driver.

Childress cars have been very good since they unloaded the "78" that qualifyed 2nd runs Childress engines. Dillons teammates Ryan Newman is 5th & Paul Menard 10th!

The Top 5 speeds from the yesterday's two practice sessions before qualifying.

Bold is Childress Engines
Practice 1
1. Paul Menard, Chevrolet, 195.042
2. Ryan Newman, Chevrolet, 194.839

3. Matt Kenseth, Toyota, 194.561
4. Austin Dillon, Chevrolet, 194.334
5. Brian Scott, Chevrolet, 194.330

Practice 2
1. Ryan Newman, Chevrolet, 195.346
2. Austin Dillon, Chevrolet, 195.211

3. Kyle Larson, Chevrolet, 194.734
4. Kevin Harvick, Chevrolet, 194.721
5. Casey Mears, Chevrolet, 194.704

Ugh. Don't remind me how slow Hendrick motors are looking so far. It may not matter by race day, but they are not in a good place.

If the 3 was the only rcr motor that was running strong I would question if that team got a favorable plate. It looks like those rcr engines are just really turned up.

I just hope they hold together after yesterday with SHR and Labonte car.

the biggest fix NASCAR has ever been involved in is the Pepsi 400 following Big E's death. They fixed that race for Jr to win, plain and simple.

Did anybody not think the 3 would be on the pole? Cmon, man.

There were two more Hendrick motors that wouldn't start up (#42/#51) when it came time for them to start their runs. I'm just not feeling good about Hendrick power this year.

There are too many variables for it to be fixed and most of it NASCAR can't control like sunshine and the wind or If the driver can hit their marks just right.

Its not like Austin Dillon is a scrub or something. He is a Truck Champion and last year's Nationwide Champion. He ran I think ten races last year starting 8th in last years 500.

Again this is the same car/team that won 4 races last year!

Ironic that Jr had a car no one could touch, a car that was faster without a drafting partner than cars drafting for the 400 and now the #3 is on the pole for its first race since Sr's death. How surprising of NASCAR. Does Don King work in NASCAR now?

Don't forget Danica last year

free press for NASCAR for a whole week. They knew who was gonna be on the pole in August when it was announced that the 3 car would be back in Cup. Blee dat.

I wouldn't bring up that NNS championship...

First time a driver has won a championship without winning a race, so...

Danica last year and #3 this year? Sounds like the WWE.
Again not a fix last year it was Hendrick motors that were dominate the minute they came off the haulers and particularly Stewart-Haas Racing as Danica (Pole), Ryan Newman (4th) and Tony Stewart (5th) all in qualified in the top 5!

Come on how could he? "Cup" guys dominated the Nationwide series last year with Poles & Wins!

There were only 5 races that a cup driver didn't win the race the only full time non winners were Sam Hornish Jr., Regan Smith (twice), Trevor Bayne, Ryan Blaney and if you want you could also add A.J. Allmendinger who won twice.

Between them Kyle Bush (12) and Brad Keselowski (7) won 19 of the 33 races.

Incorrect. He's driving Harvick's car (and has his team) from last year.

They don't even drive cars that are similar to the last car Dale Sr. drove, anymore.

RCR cars have been solid since they rolled off the truck at winter testing. Dillon isn't a scrub with a sweet ride. I hope he kicks ass.

People forget that Richard Childress drove the #3 for several years before he became just an owner and put Earnhardt in the car. I have no problem if he wants to let his grandson drive that #.
