It's not just the price tag but it is the garbage hidden in the bill like amnesty, free community college, etc. This irresponsibility is how you buy votes at a federal level and create hysteria if it doesn't pass and most Americans don't support this. This is a party that know they will be defeated soundly in 2022 unless they do something drastic to increase the welfare state and dramatically change the voting demographics.

So instead they are focused on funding the resistance for 2024 and years to come. Thats why there is the effort to federalize elections, have the IRS effectively continuously audit almost everyone and toss trillions at leftist run institutions. They know they are about to lose the next battle but they dont care because they are winning the war. That's also why it WILL pass in some form or another. Note also that this has nothing to do with infrastructure or building back the country, it is all about funding leftist programs. And once in place social programs are hard to cut.

But I do atleast feel that with Manchin being from WV that will probably save natural gas and a lot of the climate change stuff will be removed.

I am still hoping the progressives kill the bill if they don’t get everything they want and Manchin stands firm on carbon issues. That’s my hope.

Senator Joe Manchin made it clear Wednesday he opposes changing the Senate rules to bypass the legislative filibuster in order to raise the debt ceiling and that he's holding firm on his $1.5 trillion stance on President Joe Biden's budget package.

The Democratic senator from West Virgina dashed the hopes of progressives with his pronoucements - liberals hoped to invoke the so-called 'nuclear option' to bypass the Republican filibuster to raise the nation's borrowing limit and hoped to coax a few more billions out of Manchin and fellow moderate Kyrsten Sinema for Biden's social agenda.

'I've been very very clear where I stand on the filibuster. Nothing changes,' Manchin told reporters outside of his Senate office.

It takes a majority of 51 votes to use the 'nuclear option' and, in the 50-50 Senate Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer would need every one of his Democrats on board plus Vice President Kamala Harris to break the tie.

President Biden appears to be on board with that option.
