30 for 30 "Steve Bartman: Catching Hell"

Wilboun even went on record saying he "hated" him.

I always thought wilboun was a moron. Thanks for confirming it for me. His homeristic opinions make me sick to my stomach.

The Chicago fans that gave that poor man hell for that are pieces of crap and should be ashamed of themselves. I hope they never EVER win anything of importance again for the way they treated that man.

DVRed this and watched it tonight. I also had a lump in my throat over his treatment.

After watching it I reflected on a lot of things related to emotion in sports, especially from the fan perspective. I can only hope I don't react in the same manner as the mob in Wrigley if I find myself in a similar situation. I can guarantee I wouldn't throw anything at anyone, but hopefully I could find the personal courage to defend an innocent man from the aggression of others. Of course, the situation was extremely complex, fluid, and occurred in real time. It's easy to judge 8 years after the fact. But I pray I can have the wisdom and patience to realize that one moment of anger isn't worth sacrificing another's quality of life.

Some people deserve what they get. Steve Bartman absolutely did not.

JMO, YMMV

Outstanding piece. Can't wait for the Alabama/Auburn 30 for 30 before the Iron Bowl.

Run Ricky Run wasn't the most emotionally impactful to me, but it's the one 30 for 30 film I've seen that actually got me to completely rethink my position about a certain subject, which IMO is the most powerful thing a documentary can accomplish. So I like it the best.

It had every thing you want in a documentary.

Story you've never heard of before? Check.

A victim who was killed because of a mistake in a sport? Check.

An Al Capone type leader who was viewed as Robin Hood by the poor people in the country and being hunt down Osama bin Laden style? Check.

A soccer team that was really, really good that nobody knew about? Check.

How politics played a huge part in sports and vice versa? Check.

All of this ties in together somehow and runs perfectly? Check.

Award winning stuff in my mind.
As a long time soccer fan and someone who already knew the story of Escobar, I'm glad to see so many people enjoyed this.

The important thing isn't what any one of us thinks about the Cubs as a whole. It's what Lee Elia thinks. And, to go more recent, what Marty Brennaman thinks.
