30 for 30 "Steve Bartman: Catching Hell"

no it means when put in a situation like that they act like a piece of trash. How you react under stress says a lot about a person and Bartman can be sure he's better at it than that stadium full of people. Death threats, assaults, etc all happened way after the initial reaction. Just a bunch of losers looking for a scapegoat

so the actions of a few represent the fanbase as a whole?

got it.

this thread has devolved into a giant mass of stupidity.

Bartman was an easy scapegoat at the time, simply because people were caught up in the moment of that day. as time has gone on, everybody realizes what really happened that night and the Bartman carries little to no blame.

i haven't watched the documentary nor do i really care to, but i'd be willing to bet the vast majority of those around him that night regret their actions. and those who don't are the exception, not the rule.

Some do regret, some don't. The guy's life was basically ruined over a baseball. That beats any stupidity level this site could ever get to. That some may regret their actions now doesn't mean a thing to Bartman and what he has been through in the last 8 years. Dude lost his friends, job, basically his life as he knew it.

the entire stadium was chanting at him. Not to mention the replays of some of the callers on sports shows following the game

reminds me of when when Lane Kiffin left Knoxville. Guess we're all mattress burning, t-shirt pissing, protesting mongoloids.

you should probably stop now.

especially when the situations are nothing alike but just keep reinforcing the Cubs fan stereotype

yeah, let's just forget the way we reacted when Kiffin left totally helped us get past the inbred redneck stereotype.

This is the part that gets me. I've been saying this for years. He was just the (un)lucky slob who came down with the ball. The team still choked away the series. Bartman wasn't at fault. Maybe for one play he was, but if he hadn't caught the ball another fan would've.

Yea last night some douche bag had the nerve to say he pulled away when he realized Alou had a play....BS FLAG GOT THROWN!!!!

The whole Buckner thing was BS too....what about the wild pitch that tied the game??? Even that stupid pitcher threw BB under the bus.

The truth is the Cubs is a horrible organization, MLB screwed the pooch when they didn't allow Mark Cuban to buy them. He would have paid top dollar for players to come there and made them a playoff contending team. MLB would be a better business if the Cubs were a valid market. They're kinda like the ND of MLB, they have die hard fans everywhere not just Chicago

you've spent the last few posts making excuses. It's easy to see

so is the irony in this post.

it's not OK for Cubs fans to act like heathens because i don't like the organization but it's OK for Tennessee fans to act like heathens because it's my team.

sweet logic little buddy.

was Kiffin's life negatively affected in any way?
was he ever assaulted for his actions?

oh, so now we're qualifying actions because we like one fanbase and not the other? this is a fun game.

either way, it's still assault, which is what you asked.

Bartman was a random guy who spent his money to watch his favorite team hopefully earn a trip to the WS. He did nothing that thousands others wouldn't have done in his shoes (and many around him did). His life was ruined for years because he touched a foul ball. He was verbally and physically assaulted in the friendly confines by beer, spit, etc. He wasn't even allowed to see the end of the game because they were worried for his safety

Kiffin was a guy who begged for the brightest lights he could find and relished the hate. He was never confronted, never touched and most likely never in danger

I'm really sorry you aren't able to see the difference

You are making excuses for them and diverting to kiffin talk for whatever reason.

the point is, it's not a Cubs fan problem, it's an idiot fan problem and they exist across the board.

Well I don't disagree. I think many vol fans get too wrapped up and would have acted the same. It's pitiful. However, it happened at a cubs game and pushing this towards ut fans or whatever is nonsense. Just own up and be done with it.

Something we havent brought up, which I thought was the weirdest bit of new info that came to light, was Alou saying that he and Aramis buying tickets home that night after Game 6.

WTF is that?
