Where's your hardness on the 2 absolutely abysmal mental mistakes (Phillips not dunking and Awaka not keeping his ass planted) that are more detrimental?
I posted about Phillips not dunking in the last game forum, Awaka did jump early, but that FT was missed also!

Which could be attributed to him jumping and/or the whistle. Either way, it goes down as no shot at all. That's like saying a kicker missed when he pulled up when the whistle was blown for a false start.

DC Vol, you sound like a DC politician now. :)

It’s ridiculous to lay the loss at Vescovi’s feet because he missed a free throw. Why not lay the blame on the defender who allowed the low percentage 3 point game winner? After all, we were winning up until that point of the game.

i could make a list of missed shots where I could say the same thing. Or a couple turnovers. I suppose it makes you feel better to have the one guy to pin the blame on, but that’s not the way it works in reality.
Difference is that only one of them is a senior and is expected to not shat down his pants when he is called upon at the end of the game. Just like vandy, JP is a freshman, his mistakes are expected. Our guys like SV are expected to make their FTs and bail our freshman out at the end. If that’s not what they’re there for let’s just get a bunch of 1 and dones and stop with the 4 year mid.

Wrong! Without Vescovi we are not even in those games!!!
You’re not wrong. This doesn’t excuse him shatting his pants in the biggest moments. He’s played more ball than anyone else on this team. If we can’t count on him to make big FTs at the end of games then who can we count on? If no one, go ahead and pack this team up bc they’re done.

You put that much blame on a physical mistake over a mental mistake that's a known no-no from YMCA level ball? Ok.

Well, he’ll be gone next year and you can find someone else that maintains the opponents defensive attention all over the floor. Good luck finding that.
Who on our team is maintaining defensive attention? What player do we have that demands extra attention?

Vescovi jacked up a 3 with about 30 sec left. I thought we would continue to work the paint. We worked so hard to get in the FT bonus, & what do you know, we jack up a 3. Then just like the Vandy game Vescovi misses the FT. Zakai fouls out on some foolish fouls. When we inbounded the ball & it was Vescovi that got fouled, I said to myself "He's Going 2 Miss" Then we don't even try to slow down Missouri on their in pass at all. As far as our defense, we just let Missouri sink in that LONG 3 POINTER!

Just pathetic.

Vescovi has lost us the last 2 by himself. Don’t know how this is harsh. It’s a fact.
I don’t think anyone loses by themselves in a team sport. Phillips definitely could have dunked at Vandy. ZZ needed to avoid fouling out today

I think ON kinda shot us out of the game/had defensive lapses if we’re looking at players/seniors not playing well.

We could just blame the refs for every loss

It was especially ridiculous to even remotely try that this game. We were in the bonus at the 12:30 mark, they had like double the fouls we did. Refs had jack s*** to do with this loss, we just didn't finish the comeback.

YMCA is different than playing in front of 15k with hundreds of thousands more watching at home. Again I ask: if you can’t count on Vescovi to pick up the freshman slack when they make mistakes, what can you count on him for? Let’s just take UK model and pay all these 1 and dones if we have a bunch of 4 year guys that wilt under pressure. The years of experience should prep you for that, if nothing else.
