Y'all Vescovi criticizers gonna wish we still had him next year! Mark that down!

People said the same about Fulkerson. He had done more than anyone expected in his career, but he was hurting more than he was helping by the end and it was time to go. Vescovi peaked last year and now he isnt doing anything on a consistent basis to help this team. He will still have some big games down the stretch im sure, but it is time for Barnes to move on from some of the older guys. He is sometimes loyal to a fault.

The best thing that can happen next year is that some new guys get bigger opportunities, even if it means giving chances to unknown commodities.

Here is something to think about... WHEN HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THIS FOUL CALLED ON A FREETHROW THAT CAME ON THE LAST FREETHROW SHOT WITH 4-5 SECONDS LEFT? We had no TO left, even the announcers were slow understanding the situation. Our players were at a loss and they never got organized for the final play. Really strange..

Well for one, they didn't call a foul, they called a lane violation. And two, it was obvious. And three, those announcers being slow to understanding is hardly surprising after listening to them the whole game. The color commentator was an old coach and he wasn't exactly on top of things all game and even was defending Phillips' not dunking in the Vandy game which not even Barnes agrees with.

I would take healthy Fulkerson over like half of our bigs

Vescovi jacked up a 3 with about 30 sec left. I thought we would continue to work the paint. We worked so hard to get in the FT bonus, & what do you know, we jack up a 3. Then just like the Vandy game Vescovi misses the FT. Zakai fouls out on some foolish fouls. When we inbounded the ball & it was Vescovi that got fouled, I said to myself "He's Going 2 Miss" Then we don't even try to slow down Missouri on their in pass at all. As far as our defense, we just let Missouri sink in that LONG 3 POINTER!

I agree. You have to attack the basket in that particular situation or at least try to draw a foul.

I love Uros as a guy and he clearly loves everything UT, but he's maybe the most unathelitic big man I've ever seen at this level. He's slow for his size, he's been playing this long and still struggles offensively, and I've never seen a guy that big have that little jumping ability. He should be a dunking machine.

Team that misses FT’s to close out games deserves to lose. Pretty much that simple.

First FT by Vescovi barely got to the rim. Pathetic in that situation,

We should not blame Vescovi for all this. He hit the second FT only to have it wiped off by a mysterious foul call on Awaka. And really, this game was lost in the early stages. Just like the vandy game. Nobody played well enough to win in either of these games.

It was a lane violation and it was obvious; nothing mysterious about it.

He plays 35+ minutes usually at full speed. This isn’t a zone defense team. Vesco pressures his man constantly. Problem is when he goes out, there is little offensive threat on the floor. Like it or not, he’s the #1 concern of Tn opponents offensively. And by a wide margin, especially with JJJ out.

In hindsight a time out there could have closed out the win. Let Vescovi get his wind back and remind the freshmen to not do something stupid. But you’d also be icing your own player.

To say Vesco lost the games by himself is extremely narrow minded. There was plenty of blame to go around, including mind boggling bad luck. It sucks right now, but the guys are playing hard. Maybe their luck will turn around.

Narrow minds and narrow ways…

There was enough bad luck to lose 2 games there.

No V missed that second FT also!

I’m sorry your kids have to suffer through that, because that’s not really how this works. Of course any play that that changes through the course of a game can trigger the game going in a completely different direction, for better or worse. The game could be put away at the end with a FT. This is not arguable. I’m 10 years removed from my sports playing days, but I can recount a game in my head now where I bricked a FT to win us a game. I’d tell you that loss is 100% on me. I’m sure Santi would say the exact same thing about last night and Wednesday.
So your theory is that the player chooses which shots to hit and which to miss. If that were the case, why not choose to hit them all?

Total horsesh-t. With the timeout and review Vescovi had over two minutes of rest before shooting the first FT—the only that barely grazed the rim. Fact is he choked just like at Vandy.

You obviously never played anything beyond little league.
