38-1

I've never had a great encounter with KY fans, and I must say I am enjoying this loss. However, if I'm a KY fan, I'm probably wondering if Coach Cal is the man for the job. KY can't lose games the way they just did. That was horrible coaching. I always thought Coach Cal was overrated, but this loss hurts KY bad. I know how well KY recruits, etc, but you can't lose games like they just did. Trying to milk the clock, which lead to KY jacking up horrible shots, isn't going to cut it against teams who have the size to stop their unreal post play. I feel for you KY fans. I know their is some nice guys on this board who are KY fans. I loved seeing the loss, but it shouldn't have ever happened. Terrible coaching in the last 3 mins of the game for KY.

Seriously?

I guess for setting the clock back 2 seconds, Saban shoulda been run outta town too. :eek:hmy:

They won 38 games. In a row. I don't think UT has ever done that over 2 seasons.

Who cares? They are sitting at home Monday night. Saban has won how many NC? 3? Coach Cal has what, 1? 2? KY has superior talent. That team has 6-7 NBA players. No excuses for losing the way they did. Terrible coaching.

And Saban blew another NC by putting all the fatties in on a field goal. What's your point? I guess Belichick falls into this category too because they couldn't close the deal against the Giants? Good grief man, winning every single game in any league at this level is damned hard. I hate Cal and UK as much or more than anybody here, but they had a great run. One that any level headed UT fan would kill for. Their problem is that with all that talent and media hype they EXPECTED to win it all. That's why we tee it up every Saturday.

On Wisconsin. Congrats to the Badgers and a well played game

Who would you replace him with?

There's coaches available that are better than Cal when it comes to X and O. If it were me, and Cal dropped the ball again come final four time, I'd seriously look to replace him with a proven young coach. Ideally, if you could let Brad Stevens fail at Boston, then he'd be the best fit. Smart would have been good too. You can see how Archie continues to develop as a coach. You dont have to worry about recruiting. You guys at KY for crying out loud. All you need is a Izzo type hire. Someone who always makes more out of less, because your less is 3-4 NBA players instead of 6-7...

Can't believe the other players didn't even flinch

THAT says a lot about Calipari actually. In all seriousness, and this is not meant in a derogatory way, but are you really happy having a mercenary team year after year? This is the future I think for awhile, and I guess if win at all costs is good, then I can understand it, but if UT had this kind of thing going on, I'd feel slimy about it. None of those guys are Cats for Life. I don't want that at UT even if it means mediocrity. I am probably alone in that thought.

That makes 2 of us. :)

He may or may not have made the comments. His jaw doesn't appear to move and his teammates never respond by even looking his way. I just feel like they would have had some sort of response, even if it was a smile or giggle or mouth gaping open.

This is ludicrous. So many criticize Cal for underachieving with superior talent, while completely ignoring that he GETS the talent. Getting the players is half the battle, and he is the best in the game at it, BY FAR. You can't just look at his floor coaching and declare that he isn't good enough; you have to look at the end result. You want to compare him to Izzo? Here are some numbers:

Calipari (16 years)
47-14 in tournament
1 Championship

Izzo (18 years)
46-16
1 championship

Is there really that much of a difference? Izzo may be better on the floor, but Calipari makes up for it on the recruiting end.

So you'd fire a coach if he went to the final four again and lost? Do you not get how hard it is to do this? Cal is an outstanding coach who just guided UK to 38-1 record, that's outstanding. I'm sure UK fans are disappointed, but still great..

I love when UK fans say this team bleeds blue.

I'm still trying to figure out what Saban has to do with anything, or what UT has to do with this convo. UT will never have a basketball program like KYs. Just like they will never have a football program like ours. Facts are, media hyped or not, they have the best college basketball team, talent wise, we have ever seen. Period. They lost the game because of bad coaching decisions. They had it won. You are up with 3 to go and you have most the momentum on your side. That team shouldn't lose. I know that's crazy to say, but they have soooo much talent. They have a freshman post player who's the best player in college basketball IMO.

Wis won today because they have better coaching and they out rebounded the best rebounding team in college basketball. I think KY was out rebounded by 10-12 rebounds, and still were up with 3 to go.

I want VFLs here at UT. Not one and dones that don't give a rat's azz about the university. Having players that are using the team that so many of us love use it as a stepping stone to the next level because they HAVE to. Compound that with the fact that basketball is a small roster and the percentage of mercenaries is much much higher. True, I know that we have some in football, and a bigger number than UK does, but not enough that have the potential to go pro in their freshman year that would totally decimate the team should they choose to do so. iow, the majority of your team could have gone to the NBA without ever having stepped foot in Lexington. The ONLY reason they are there is because of the NBA rule. Does that make you proud of them? It feels slimy to me, and wouldn't make a NC feel all that special.

You said you wondered if Cal were the guy because he mad bad coaching decisions. I countered with Saban and Belichick making idiotic decisions. Nobody is running them out of town. And Calipari didn't get out rebounded. The players did. That's on them.
