#4 seed or Sugar Bowl

If LSU beats UGA then they both go to the playoff. UT does not. The champion is getting in... plus a 1 loss UGA team regardless of anything else that happens.
I don’t know how the committee could pretend that we didn’t beat a 2 loss team by 4 scores on their home field. That’s essentially what they would be doing in that scenario.

should be a rule that no same conference teams (which would only apply to SEC :)) in the final four can play each other in the semi-finals. Chances are that you would have the best two teams meeting in the semi-finals and the championship game would be anti-climatic.

Agree. But winning the CG over UGA would erase that memory. I think they would dismiss the FSU loss altogether.

I think the way out of this is a system that takes the 5 power five champions plus at large bids. I think that's the design of the 12 team system, right? Eight or 16 teams makes more sense... but whatever. At 16 you could guarantee all of the division winners in P-5 plus at large teams.

My answer to this really depends on how the elections turn out tomorrow for the Congress. If too many seats shift one way or another I believe we will be relegated to number 3, 4 or 5 in the playoffs.

I really hope this was helpful.

If we do get in, we'll be a 4 seed. They will do everything possible to avoid an all SEC final.

I have thought of that as well but also you could interpret is as GA-TN guarantees a SEC team in CG so a lot of other conferences could cry foul (I am sure Sankey and SEC would love it). Now could they move Winner of Ohio State/Michigan to number 1 and move GA to #2 so to avoid clash ? Who knows.

If this has been ask please merge.

What would you want more? Vols being a #4 seed playing #1 seed and prob being picked to lose OR a Sugar Bowl berth and a good chance of winning?
How is this even a question?

Do you guys think they would keep us at 4? I’m wondering if they move us to 3 to avoid a rematch in a semifinal. This is of course assuming we get there. I’m guessing it would be against Ohio State or Michigan in Tempe.

Only way we stay at 4 is if the season ends with 3 undefeated teams. We really need TCU to lose this weekend and for LSU and UGA to keep winning. Bama winning out probably helps us too, but I’m never going to root for Bama to win unless they are playing UF.

TCU has 3 tough games remaining. Texas this weekend, Baylor and then the Big 12 title game. If they go through all of that unscathed they will definitely be in. I’m w/ you, I think they lose in Austin this weekend.

sugar bowl is a nice consolation prize but NOTHING compares to having a chance to play for a national championship.

I've got an even better paradoxical question that will wretch a man's soul. Would you rather go on a date with a super model, or would you rather have a root canal? 🤷🤔🙄

Would you rather go on a date with Kate Upton or score with Whoopie Goldberg?

Making the CFP is like making the Final Four in basketball. You’re competing for a national championship, which is the pinnacle of what every program aspires to be. Give me the playoffs all day long.

Or you could win the NIT….

Exactly. It's sad to say but the playoffs have kind of rendered the bowl games as an afterthought. That's another reason why I'm all for playoff expansion. It allows the major bowls to be incorporated in the playoffs annually, thereby making them relevant again. Perhaps even more so.
That's a good point.
