The response I'd expect from Wright or Dixon after snickering would be something like, "Yeah, no". Then the next candidate would be called.

EDIT: That said, I'd do cartwheels for weeks if Jay Wright wanted to come to Tennessee.

I doubt we could get more than two of those guys, but I'd take any one of them in a heartbeat.

Well I hope it's an unknown and just speculation on the sources part but hammy doesn't run the Dooley type ship

Top 3 are almost a guaranteed no. The only one of the five that would consider is Marshall.

Agree.

What bothers me is the thought that they put Dixon and Wright on that list to placate us during the search. I can't see any reason why those two would leave their respective schools given their recent success. Seems like smoke and mirrors to me, for now. The other three, though I doubt even Grant would entertain the idea, are possibilities. I hope this isn't the case, as it would feel as though they're insulting our intelligence, though if they read volnation I would understand their attempt.

By the way, because I've never followed a college basketball coaching search before, is this normal? To list your top choices publicly, or is this simply a PR move by Cheek and Hamilton?

The athletic department didn't list these choices publicly. If you read the beginning of the article, it says that this list came from an anonymous source.

I know it isn't happening, but it would be a tad odd to replace Pearl with either Wright or Dixon right after Pearl soundly defeated both of them. Maybe those games opened their eyes to what this program can become.

Theren's no chance we're getting Dixon. IMO, he's a tremendous coach but I don't know if his style could do well here. It works great in the Big East, but I don't know if it could outside of it.

Wright? Highly doubtful.

I'd take any of the other three. I'm of the opinion that we've got a much better shot at Turgeon than most think, especially with Bily Clyde at Texas Tech.

Oddly enough, Pearl's first two NCAA tournament games at UT were against teams coached by Marshall and Turgeon.

That is an optimistic but interesting thought. It's easier to win the SEC than the Big East just on probability alone. They already have recruiting roots in Big East country still and every head coach has the ego and mindset that they can do anything (See Pearl). That being said I'd want Wright over Dixon. Pitt seems to choke a little bit more than Nova does.
