Oddly enough, Pearl's first two NCAA tournament games at UT were against teams coached by Marshall and Turgeon.

Yep and we lost to Turgeon, and almost lost to Marshall's Winthrop had Chris Lofton not nailed that three from the corner at the very end.

I will never forget the look on Marshall's face when that shot went down. It would be extremely weird to have him preside over the ceremony where Chris's number is retired.

This just pisses me off. Writer32 is a complete fool, first of all. BUT, on top of that, him running this story gets people talking about Dixon/Wright/Grant, and then we are going to have to watch one by one as each of them come out and say, "I AM NOT INTERESTED IN THE COACHING JOB AT TENNESSEE."

I'm tired of being shot down PUBLICLY through the media, whether there is interest or not on either end, just because some dumba$$ "writer" (used in the loosest sense possible) decides to throw five random names out.

He absolutely has nothing to report and has nothing to add. It's sickening.

No Marshall or Turgeon. Grant would be an OK hire, but wouldn't fire anyone up. And why the hell would Dixon or Wright leave the best conference in basketball, and top 25 programs, to coach a mediocre basketball team? Not happening.

Griff makes me wonder why I didn't pursue sports writing. I'm thinking if he can keep a job, it is better job security than tenure these days.

If that guy can write for a paper in a city with a major university like UT, then anyone can.

No to Marshall or Turgeon but yes to Grant? That makes no sense to me.

You are underestimating Marshall and Turgeon.

Yep. Smokescreen.

Dixon and Wright wouldn't leave those 2 upper echelon programs for UT. Possibly the other 3 might leave but I don't think any of those are top choices.

Wonder if this is the same source that said Bruce turned over the "bump" violation to compliance?

that would defeat your earlier argument that it was a current (now former) member of the staff.. and possibly bolster my argument that it was a booster :)

Theren's no chance we're getting Dixon. IMO, he's a tremendous coach but I don't know if his style could do well here. It works great in the Big East, but I don't know if it could outside of it.

Wright? Highly doubtful.

I'd take any of the other three. I'm of the opinion that we've got a much better shot at Turgeon than most think, especially with Bily Clyde at Texas Tech.

Agree with everything except I'm not sold on Grant and I seriously doubt he makes a move to another SEC school.

Agreed.

Maybe we can double the salaries of Dixon and/or Wright and give them an easier path to the tourney. The SEC didn't just put eleven teams in the dance like the Big East did, whether they deserved all those spots or not.

You have to try to talk to them, and you have to point out those obvious items as you talk to them. Maybe they like being cold seven months out of the year. Maybe they are competitors who like the challenges of the Big East. Maybe though, they would listen.

I seriously doubt that they are real candidates considering who wrote the article.

Is it April 1st? Why print that? They are setting the fans up for disappointment.

First post so don't kill me but I really would like to have Frank from Boston, if we done have to wait until the playoffs are done.

Welcome aboard !

:hi:

Don't be afraid. Post early and often.

Just don't wear your feelings on your sleeve. Not everyone here will agree with you, and some may not even like you. Get over it and keep posting.

Now if you decide to take a run at Hat you're on your own. :)
