They're all good folks. They just have very strong convictions and opinions.

Ironically, of course, it was over Pearl and in light of recent events it turns out Hat was right all along. Pearl is and has always been a piece of trash.

I don't think Grant would even consider us. He already has a job at a top SEC program. Why would he leave that to come to a school loaded with NCAA sanctions?

If they released this info or if they are even considering approaching Wright or Dixon they have set us up for the old so and so has removed his name from consideration,blah blah blah and we look like we have the plague again. They need to go after a realistic option and hire him. This will be the guy that gets us through this crap,the next coach will be the one that finally gets us close to where we have been with CBP!!

This is simply a list to get the fans thinking, the true candidates are currently coaching their team in the tournament or in the NBA. Nobody can replace Bruce Pearl in my eyes, but I think we will all be satisfied when its all said and done:thumbsup:

Dont overvalue that job. It wasnt that good of job before Pearl and it is worse off now than then.

Not overvaluing, the NCAA wont give us a free pass obviously, but cutting ties with Pearl will give us a much lighter sentence I assume. The board knows they have to make a hire that will keep the fans happy, hence put butts in the seats. Fans are upset enough over the Kiffin incident, the firing of Bruce just pisses them off even more. If they dont hire the right guy then there is alot of money to be lost, they know what they have to do

If it was such a great job, then why did you have to get the coach from UWM in order to fill it? With the potential for sanctions, its not a good job at the moment either. The next hire should be an easier search. Thats all Im saying.

Also if im not mistaken, didn't Tennessee beat Memphis even when they were at their best with Rose? Yes they did. If anything you're jumping for joy over this situation because we whipped your ass almost every year with Pearl.

Funny thing is, is that Memphis tried to hire Pearl after Calipari left for Kentucky. You make no since whatsoever

You were saying that the perceived quality of the job didn't improve under Pearl. That's bogus. Even with potential sanctions (if reduced through Pearl's firing), the job is better now than when Buzz was fired. Recent success and a renewed financial commitment go a long way. Bruce got pretty much everything he wanted.

Youre correct. What he did at Tennessee was deserving. He made himself a commodity. Im referring to 2004 when he took the job at UTK. The program was down, recruiting is difficult, and tradition is reserved for football or womens basketball mainly. Today, minus the potential for sanctions still, the job is much better. Its still tough to recruit but he showed he can win. Thats a big deal. The fact is that most big time coaches arent going to accept a job that faces restrictions on what they must do to be successful: win.

As for you others, I expect nothing less than to trash the city and the "conference envy" thing. Our conference affiliation is something I cannot control but it is nice to win a conference on occasion.

You are grossly overstating what the sanctions will be. Why don't you head on back to Tigercrap.com and discuss what Rice is going to look like next year.
