A lot of people are going to have to turn us down before we hire Smart. Like, more people than the 5 on that list.

People see a guy do well in the tournament and automatically fall in love with him. Marshall is about 20x the coach Smart is, but he didn't make the tournament so people act like he's nothing. It's ridiculous.

Notice none of the coaches listed have teams still in the tourney. I would have to believe Tennessee wants Brad Stevens more than any of the 5 listed. They just dont want to mention him with Butler still in the tournament. I may be wrong but I think he would have to be their # 1 choice.

Brad Stevens will never leave the state of Indiana. IU will be the only job he ever takes if he is offered.

The list is expected, but I concur with the thoughts that this is a smoke screen. I would prefer they go after Mooney (Richmond is not far away recruiting wise, big step up in schools, and he seems like a good chartacter/ high acheiver) or Smart (like their style of play).

Yes, but Stevens has been offered jobs that have doubled his pay and declined. He is very happy at Butler and IU would be the only job he would move to.

As for me, Id work for Hitler for the right price. I just need to get paid.

I believe when this is over Gregg Marshall will get the gig.
right now he makes 850k and will see a sizeable increase, plus his assistant coach has ties to Atlanta recruiting through family. He can come into the interview and have a plan to keep it rolling.

The choices that they are floating around are more than decent, but IMO our program needs someone that first has a catch and as stated the kids want to know if they have the potential to make it too the big show.
They need someone whom is proven and can teach the game. Second he must have the it factor which with the funds that we have and the facilities we have it would be a big plus. He has to be an awesome motivator especially when it comes to selling the families of these young men and the reputation of being a person who knows how to instill disciplining.
Frank is a good coach but does he have the it factor for a recruit. As stated before I would enjoy Larry Brown being here, he has the credibility and thick skin to handle the storm and for all you youngsters out there who do not have a clue he is the real deal when it comes to coaching the game. One thing for sure when a kid says to a friend I am being recruited by Larry Brown and the University of Tenn. eyes will open and the top highschoolers will come.

I would be thrilled with either coach. Larry Brown would provide the largest 'Get everyone's attention' factor, and instant credibility. Plus, I think Frank would do the same thing, just not quite as much as Brown. I think we're better in the short run with either of these 2 guys. Probably would make Harris and Hopson stay next year to be coached up by a former NBA head coach. Would probably cause Jones and Ware to honor their committments. Brown could come any time since he's not coaching, and if they could come to terms with Frank and announce prior to the end of the Celtics run in the playoffs, it would probably do the same thing. If Brown only coaches 3 - 5 years then retires for good, we will be in a much stronger position to hire a top tier coach. The same for Frank if he goes back to the NBA in 3+ years.

I am getting loaded down by emails from UK fans laughing their tails off over this list. This is bad pub for TN. wait till each one of these guys local papers ask them about it, and they have to say, "I have No interest in the TN job" It makes the TN job look like it sucks when three of four coaches come out and affirmatively state they have "no interest" WHY DO THIS?

yeah it works like that, i think they got the same mother....and lawvol is related but i haven't figured out how....
