6/20 Update: Today is the Day

Well Vol brothers and sisters, some of you may remember me posting about my son being born (his names Neyland) a little over a year ago now. When he was born he had what is called an omphalocele (some of his organs like liver and intestines are outside of his abdomen). He needed to be over a year of age to have his surgery so the surgeons would have room to put everything where it goes. So today at 7am this morning he will be having the surgery. I just wanted to ask everyone to please keep my son and our family in your thoughts and prayers today as he has this procedure. He's my only son and we had a lot of difficulties not only conceiving but during the pregnancy and birth as well so were beyond thankful for him being here with us but are also ready to get all these procedures behind us. Thanks Volnation for all your support youve given me through these times.

Thank you all for your kind words and prayers. He just got done with preop and is headed back now for the procedure. It was adorable when they gave him adivan during preop to relax him. He was a very loopy and happy baby.
My grandson had to have surgery to remove Meckel's diverticulum right after he turned one. He reacted that same way! His smile when he looked at his mommy made us and the nurses all giggle. Then his mommy and I went and cried for a few minutes, lol.

We did as decent as parents can for the minimum 2 hours they said it could take....but you could see my heart beating in my wrist and my stomach about 5 mins after the 2 hours. luckily it wasnt long after that before the surgeon came to consult us and said he was fine. He did have a reaction to the gas anesthesia where his temperature and CO2 went up....its rare that happens they said but he responded to treatment for it immediately and will be in the PICU for atleast 24hrs due to it just to be on the safe side.
