6 Years in Prison for Freaking Codeine!

I agree with you.

In this case, I'm just having a hard time giving a ****. He was already given more chances than a "normal" person would.

Cool, why throw him in jail? Let him narcotize himself to death. At least it won't lack justice and cost money.

Jail/prison very rarely turns someone's life around, and oftentimes makes it worse. In this case, I don't think Jolly would change if thrown in prison. Especially for six years.

You do give enough of a **** about the topic to go so far as to mock him with your avatar. Apparently he deserves 6 years and mockery.

He deserves the 6 years, absolutely.

Again, he had six years of prison tim staring him in the face. It wasn't a surprise. It wasn't out of nowhere. I understand drug laws are basically retarded, but come on.

Have a little personal responsibility.

That was your 1337'th post. Awesome.

Anyway, I'm sure addiction itself had nothing to do with that. Maybe he wanted free room and board for 6 years.

Fair enough, willpower can overcome many things. I feel bad for the kid having to be in prison for 6 years. I think it's stupid. I think what he did was stupid. He probably knew the whole time, but lacked the clout to beat it. I will say this, however.

There are far worse things a man can do to both himself and others that won't land a him in prison for this long.

Agreed.

so the govt needs to step in? Ummm

and he could have been perfectly happy with his choices in life. Of course we can't have that

It will always be illegal to smoke crack and shoot heroin. Right or wrong, people are going to either learn to make the "right" choice or enjoy incarceration.

I'll agree with you on that one.

or they are going to work to actually have the govt grant the people more freedom. I choose that one and you can keep the "govt knows best" stuff

Whoa whoa whoa, I never wanted Uncle Sam to stick his nose in this.

I think it's the responsibility of the user as well as his loved ones to recognize when it becomes a lifeline. While I think we should be free to put whatever we want in our bodies, that only applies to gov't intervention. I still think overdoing it/addiction is horrible, and I think one's family should step in and help someone who has sunk to fiendish levels.

I never said government knows best.

Do you think there should be no consequences for breaking laws? If this is a debate on the effectiveness on drug laws, I've missed the point, and apologize.

As it stands now, he knew the law, and broke it. He got another chance, failed again. Got yet another chance and failed once again. He should sit in jail and get sober. Hopefully he wont go back.

my point is that the law is ridiculous. You say he wasted his chances when without govt intervention keeping us safe there would have been no need to need even a second chance

Maybe within the next 300 years. Not in my life, yours, or unfortunately Johnny Jolly's.

when did Jolly use crack or heroin?

He was driving around hopped up on cough syrup and no telling what else (he threw a bag of something out the window). That should be against the law.

Hyperbole, sorry. Codeine, maybe there's a chance, but I highly doubt it. How long have we been trying to legalize pot?

Also, for DinkinFlicka, he did spend 2 months in court-ordered rehab. Didn't help.

Yeah, 2 months is gonna do a world of good.

I'm assuming you've never dealt with this sort of thing before.
