No, I've never been addicted to cough syrup. Must be a hard habit to kick.

Nice defense mechanism. So no, you would have no idea that 2 months of rehab isn't going to do squat for someone in that situation.

It also shows how much the court thinks it knows about drug addiction.

He was driving around hopped up on cough syrup and no telling what else (he threw a bag of something out the window). That should be against the law.

the driving part is a different discussion but mere possession of the substance should not be a 10% of your life prison sentence. Not by anyone's definition should that be fair or correct

Hyperbole, sorry. Codeine, maybe there's a chance, but I highly doubt it. How long have we been trying to legalize pot?

pot will be legal (and already is) eventually. It just took getting past the brainwashed, reefer madness crowd for it to happen.

Have you dealt with cough syrup addiction, personally?

Much harder than caffeine? Kicked that first time trying. 3 days going cold-turkey.

Edit: Is my caffeine addiction a disease?

He wasn't charged with a DUI was he? I'd say that's a worse offense than a 3rd possession charge....no way he'd get 6 years for a DUI.

Sherlock Holmes was a complete dope head and was just fine. I understand he is a fictional character but during the time of these books being written the drugs he was on were legal and accepted. He is also based on a real person.

It is only in the last 100 years that society has felt it's not smart to let a human chooose what they can put in their body which just happened to happen right around the time cigarette companies came to power and prohabition ended. It is also why our jails are full.

Probation? Does that mean anything to some of you guys?

I don't understand why it's so hard for people to understand that our position is he shouldn't have been given probation in the first place. :hi:

It is stupid to do things that you know have a good chance of ending you in jail.

It is stupid to make laws that turn citizens into criminals when they have not harmed anyone else.

Lotta stupid to go around in a case like this.

6 years of him off drugs makes me feel better.

Yep, cuz everyone knows that prisoners can't get their hands on drugs...

Number one reason the War on Drugs is a complete farce. We can't even keep drugs out of prisons...how can we even attempt to keep them out of a country/state/county/city? Policymakers are retarded.

Haha, because if it's anything prison is famous for, it's cleaning up addicts.

Oh, wait...

and rape. "My cousin has gotten so many DUIs that he had to go to jail for a year. Now his only concern was getting raped, so he didn't take a shower for the entire year...because he was so busy getting raped." -Jeselnik
