7th in AP Poll

You guys are missing a key point. We are a different team than what the CFP Committee and everyone else saw all season. We no longer have a Heisman-worthy QB. I don’t know any rational person who can say we’re one of the four best teams in the country right now, which is the primary objective of the committee - to put the four best teams in the playoff.

Prepare to be bitterly disappointed. That loss to USC eliminated us from the CFP. Even if all 4 of the top 4 teams lost between now and the final selection show, you would end up with CFP brackets with the following 4 teams (in some order): Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State and Alabama. We are behind both Ohio State and Alabama, and there is no possibility of ANY combination of future events on the field that will change that.
So, we should’ve just not played Bama at all then. Just forfeit our win against Bama, that’ll teach them.

Nope! Both teams are 10-2 and we beat Bama head to head. Plus, Tennessee has a better SOS.

I guess there’s a reason you don’t have a vote. The head too doesn’t mean s*** when the other team has two losses where they weren't even competitive. One of which was a 20+ point loss to an awful team. This isn’t a conference tiebreaker.

I have no problem with where we're ranked. I think Alabama should be ranked in front of Ohio State. I'm wondering if the CFP committee agrees with me

All the arguments in the world will not change the fact. We beat them straight up! We have the same records! They list to a team we destroyed! In what world would we not be considered a better team?

Take off your orange glasses and take into account that we lost two games that weren't close, and one of those losses was historically embarrassing.

Bama lost two very close, last second games to top 10 teams on the road.

They have a slightly better resume based on those losses.
NO THEY DONT

What in the hell are you talking about

They played an easier schedule

They have inferior wins

And we beat them!

It's completely idiotic to think that our two losses are so much worse than their losses that it overcomes SOS, strength of wins and head to freaking head.

Take off your damn crimson glasses.

Insanity.

Maybe they realize their losses could’ve went either way and we weren’t remotely competitive in ours.
If you get credit for games you don't win, then why bother trying to win tight games? Bama could have skipped all the effort in the last minute against us and in overtime against LSU to prevent injuries, with their credit secured.

As it is their best win is against an unranked team, and they've lost both times they've been pushed by a good team. If the playoff rankings is based on what you've actually done, it's not worth considering them.

For the polls, it all depends on when you lost and to who. We have lost since Bama last lost so they a couple of games to build back up. We had one.

If you look at the point totals you see we missed being ahead of them by a small margin. Win the SC game and we are in front. Heck, lose by a small amount in that game or even lose like we do but be more competitive in the loss to Georgia and that might be enough to sway the few votes that would’ve had us ahead. We have an argument but so do they and this argument only is happening because the team didn’t take care of business.

That's an inane way of looking at it and not consistent. Oregon just lost to Oregon State and is still ranked ahead of them with the same record.

Some of us including me thought 9-3 was the high water mark for 2022. I am proud to be a UT fan today. Nothing to hang our heads on this season. GBO!

We have had a great season. We have some things we could have done a lot better, and at least a game to be disappointed with, but the body of work was outstanding.

It’s not like we have one loss to UGA and Bama has one loss to us. We made our bed and we aren’t moving past anyone ahead of us right now unless it’s Penn St. They didn’t lose by 20+ to a terrible team so that’s more than enough to put them ahead of us.

If only there was some way the voters could directly compare Tennessee and Bama this year. Like a head to head comparison or a game where both teams participated in to see who is the better team.

How could that be? Oh.

Good Lord, it's very simple. As much as I hate Bama, their 2 losses came on the road at 2 of the most hostile environments in college football, by a total of 4 points. Ours also came at hostile environments, but by 39 points, and we never really threatened to win either game. Our schedule is not that much harder than theirs. We should be 1 spot behind Bama, you can argue all you want, but it's the truth.

If Alabama has wins against anybody meaningful, and doesn't have a head to head loss to us, maybe it's important how they lost. But if how you lose is really important it would be part of the standings to begin with. And if they really wanted to be ahead of us, they wouldn't have lost to us. They made their bed on the field, and they should have to live with it.
