8/19 scrimmage?

Schedule says 8, but last week they took forever and stretched and did special teams, so the offense vs. defense didn't start until about an half hour into the scrimmage, I wasn't checking my watch so I am not sure.

Those of you who are fortunate to be able to attend; please let us know how it goes as soon as you can. A lot is riding on this scrimmage and I need to know whether or not the ulcer I am about to have is warranted.

Thanks

If anybody is capable of giving an unbiased assessment of the scrimmage I would appreciate it. No slants towards the QB, WR, RB, etc that you wish was playing more. Just the facts please.

That's it Freak, we need to pitch in and get you a laptop with wireless access so you can give up to the minute reports. How much do we need to raise?

I could post from my blackberry but I am afraid I might miss something while typing.

I posted it in the other thread, but if Freak or someone going wants to call me with updates, I will post them. I'll be home all night.

Just let me know if someone wants my number.

From the report from Tennstud on Gridscape, both Ainge and Crompton are looking very good. The running game isn't working too well and the defense is looking awesome. They are pressuring Ainge, but he is handling it well.

I can already predict the changing of feelings towards the season, Ainge, and the offense from the posts on the scout site.

When the official notes come out, everyone should feel a lot better. I bet it will be a 180 from last week in terms of optimism here.

Who-hoo, hope this holds true...

Not as concerned about the running game since Foster isn't in - and I take comfort in knowing we continue to have a stout run defense.

He made it sound like Ainge was playing well, but Crompton was playing as well or better.

Oline was weak, and hurt the running game.

Is it over yet? How did it go?

just reading from another board, its over, this was their highpoints:

a) Both Ainge and Crompton played well.
b) Oline was a weakness and hurt the running game.
c) Lots of dropped passes
d) Coker didn't play that well
e) Austin and Hancock are better then Brisco tonight
f) 2nd team defense is much better then 2nd team offense, lack of depth
g) McClendon on oline is a real stud
h) McNeil played most of the game at center

I wouldn't say the weakness. I'd say the defense stepped up and finally stopped the run. If it was the other way and we were toting the ball down the field, we'd be talking trash about the DL. The focus on offense was correcting the passing game and we did that.

Just like it was just a scrimmage last week, it's just a scrimmage this week... certainly positive if Ainge played better, but still just a scrimmage.

But he progressed. Last week, he couldn't handle the pressure at all. This week, he handled it with poise and made the right decisions.

Good stuff.

Just saying, I didn't turn suicidal last week, and I'm not gonna be giddy after this week's scrimmage.
