8/19 scrimmage?

The QBs seemed to pass pretty well tonight... is it just the running game that the o-line is struggling?

ok here is my thoughts on the scrimmage. The offensive line played pretty bad giving up 4-5 sacks. They seemed to fall apart on every major blitz, and could barely run block at all. Ainge played much better though still shacky and had some long passes. Hardegree played very well and Crompton was above average. Asumnu caught a pass and had a dropped one. McGlothlin did very, very well on the d-line, working with the starting offense. I'd give the offense a 5 out of 10 and the defense a 8 out of 10.

That's pretty solid right there. I read where he would've had another TD if Morely didn't strip the ball from Holbert.

How much did Ainge play? 2 quarters or so?
not really done by quarters so it's hard to say.

Would this be a stretch? The scheme is to give an appearance of a weak line to basically give Ainge a trial by fire. If he can get over being sacked and pounded this much in practice, he overcomes his fears (see last LSU game) and will win back some of that lost confidence for the real games....

Insert conspiracy theory comments here........

I don't know, it would be hard to ask your offensive line to play below average so the defense can kill your QB. That being said, anything is possible I guess.

I'd say the best way to get him over his fear would be for the line to show him they're a brick wall and nothing is getting through.

I kind of wish college football would have a couple of preseason games. I know I know, injuries..

Freak, what are we looking like as far as offensive sets and formations? Same as last year or are you seeing different stuff? I guess what I'm asking is can you tell that a different guy is running things?

GOOD question....are we seeing the Green Notebook being used or College Football for Dummies being used? Are we still predictable?

I'm probably not smart enough to tell honestly. I saw a fewthings that looked new but very similar overall.

So would it be safe to say with the experienced secondary now, we're blitzing the LB's and the occasional cornerback or safety more?

We were blitzing. It's hard for me to qualify "more'. :)
