(8) Butler vs. (1) Pittsburgh

Not with .8 seconds left on a rebound (which was clearly secured I might add - it wasn't like the Pitt player managed to strip the ball and was a threat to put the ball in for a game winning layup) in a tie game.

less than 2 seconds isnt .8 seconds.

I said less than two seconds. I can't remember the exact number, forgive me. There was enough time for a catch and shoot in all situations.

What's your take on both fouls?

I call the first, and don't call the second.

call em both - the second was pretty blatant and Howard played it perfectly. I should point out that I have Pitt winning it all in my money bracket.

I'm disappoint no one gets my Dave Attell joke - I had to tone it down a bit but it's still gold

the ref blew the game plain and simple. most posters on here, are glad that a "white" bball school won though so of course they'll show bias.

Wow, you're pretty ignorant. How does this have anything to do with a "white" bball school?

I gotsed it.

I also root for the Prussian schools as much as I can. Any precursor to the Aryans has to be solid.

No there wasn't enough time to catch and shoot with .8 - both of his feet weren't even on the ground yet - you act like he's facing the basket with both feet on the ground with his balance. With 1.5 seconds you could POTENTIALLY get off a shot from a defensive rebound... but that's even iffy.

I do too. But the foul was obvious.

The NCAA Head of Officials was just on the postgame show to discuss this issue. First, he said both were obvious fouls. I'm assuming that nobody disputes that. He also said that he always asks head coaches if a foul is a foul or if refs should swallow the whistle. He said that head coaches almost always say a foul is a foul and they should be called regardless of the situation.
