Shared this in a recruiting thread but the combined recruiting/transfer rankings on 247 have us #11 overall and #5 in SEC. Likely to move ahead of A&M at 4 before it’s over.

Cherry picking the cream is not the same as shopping from the mix of upwardly mobile AND discontent/bad fits. Does anyone think a lot of tears were shed over the 2 guys he added from here? Do they really project to be contributors down there? Yet they are part of the winning point total.

I will wait till both signing days and portal windows are done to measure each schools TOTAL ROSTER IMPROVEMENT and NIL utilization score. Even then the value of NIL RETENTION efforts won’t be scored.

This. We managed the no11 combined class so far. With 4 HS scholarships still open and room in the portal as well....
WITHOUT getting any credit for the MOST important $$$ we spent...paying Cooper and 3 other starters on our Oline so that 4/5 starters will be back next season to keep our running game dominant AND keep Nico from getting hurt while giving him time back there to excel as a starter. We got ZERO credit for this in the rankings.

How much is Cooper worth ALONE being a 2nd team All SEC center??? So much that we lost to a crap Flarduh team without him, but lead Bama 20-3 in Tuscaloosa WITH him. I wouldnt trade him for any 2 of the 5* players in the portal....nor would any coach in the SEC.

Even just adding in the star rankings of those 4 Olinemen coming out of HS would make ours a top 5 class....not to mention adding what they are actually worth NOW as the Oline that lead the SEC in rushing yards nearly all season long. They should honestly all be figured as 5star players based solely on that. Instead we got ZERO credit for bringing them all back for another year....even though our NIL absolutely had to pay each of them a good bit of money to do so. These guys were nearly all seniors as well, so its not like we paid a bunch of juniors not to transfer somewhere else. We paid a bunch of seniors to come back with their Covid year instead of going to the NFL or starting a career elsewhere.

Our staff has done a GREAT job of locking down a good team for next year. Even our portal guys have multiple seasons left to play at UT as well. CJH was extremely smart with this roster. Ole Miss shopped like a drunken sailor and bet the farm on winning it all next season. After that they will fall off dramatically. Watch Kiffin jump ship to Flarduh. That will suck

I saw Ondre Evans play at the state title game. Honestly wasn’t blown away by him. Boo Carter is better IMO. I don’t think Evans will ever see the field at Georgia.

scary that next year may be heupels weakest team and that we also get to see his best coaching.. well we hope

Next year won’t be his weakest team at all… a lot depends on Nico but he has a much better feel for the Qb spot then joe… we will see him get out of the pocket alot more and extend plays with his legs and arm… the wrs will be better overall with squirrel… I think a Rb duo of Sampson and seldon has the potential to be even more dangerous than this year behind a vet OL… we will see though I expect the players to work hard and develop this offseason as this is the culture Heup is developing… secondary will be the most inexperienced but the athleticism will be the best we have had in a long time…

We got a 8-4 or 9-3 type recruiting class, forget any dreams of winning the SEC or beating the big boys and making the playoffs. 2022 will be the high water mark for Heupel he won’t replicate that.

nope. just a 5 year probation with 12 scholarship reduction during that 5 year period. Staff is trying to have 82 or 83 each year to use up the reductions before year 6.

Wouldn’t that potentially keep recruiting numbers lower if you’re trying to keep scholarship numbers lower?

We can take as many as we want. Only restriction is 85 or ever how many roster spots we want to carry this year.

it could but doesn't have to. for example:

20 players leave UT via portal. 15 graduate. You might sign 35 players to replace them via signing class plus portal.

You have to manage it somewhere..
