9-4

No. I think it is that we, the fanbase, have been told that Heupel is our Saban...and we bought into it.

I think people have already forgotten that 9-4 was the best we did in the years between Fulmer and Heupel. The Carny Barker Butch Jones did it twice, and backed into that record by losing to Mizzou and vandy after beating UF and Uga in the same year for the first time since 2004.

So 9-4 is apparently the new floor, while for 12-13 years, it was the ceiling apparently.

We are in a much better place.
We prolly need to stop with the 9-4 nonsense. It’s 8-4 and ****** bowl. Like who wants to watch and/or brag about a win against Iowa. This is new era of college football. It’s a playoff sport now, like it or hate it.

I'm not going to stop jack ****.

There is a big difference between being disappointed at 9-4 and it being the best we did for 13 years.

If you can't see that, you are blind and pretty ****ing stupid.

Beats not being in a bowl by a mile. Or going 4-8. Or going 3-7. Or losing to UK to break a 34-game win streak when they are 3-8 and start a QB who hasn't played QB since HS.

My expectations for this season were in fact 8-4, but I thought 9-3 was possible, but also 7-5.

So I could GAS that we are 8-4...its about where we are right now

Yeah if you beat at least 3 teams that were better than you while having 3-4 key players out.

Fahr all of em, can’t believe we didn’t accomplish this 🙄
The Florida and mizzou games were embarrassing losses. And bama was winnable until everyone **** their pants. Should have won at least 2 of those 3 games.

No. Alabama is better
Mizzou is Better. Might be different if Pilli, Bru, and Hadden were available.

Embarrassing performance for sure but not because we lost, because we played like crap.

Florida, probably should of won even with Mays out , Pilli out, other OL banged up or unavailable. Definitely should of been competitive.

We were up 20-7 going into the 3rd quarter at bama and then didn’t score another point. Completely different team the second half. It was winnable.

I’m not convinced mizzou is the better team. I mean, we were favored on the road. And lost in embarrassing fashion.

I’m not calling for heupel to be fired, I am however calling for changes on the staff. I mentioned in the game day thread that he loses all credibility if he doesn’t make changes in the off-season.

Being winnable and should win are 2 different things.
Being favored means nothing. It’s a line to gamblers to bet.

Bama clearly a better team = not a should win. Game proved it. 4 Quarter game, 1 or 2 doesn’t win it.
Mizzou clearly showed they were better.
If that didn’t convince you then are confused.
They had the better QB, RB , WR , won the line of scrimmage on both sides.
Where are we better? I didn’t see anywhere.
Maybe Punter. Yep

Bama was clearly not winnable. Missouri was a good team most of the year, they were 7/2, just like us. I don't think our game was embarrassing we played hard and just came up short on the road.
I wish people like this would stop calling for coaching changes all the time. We had Kiffin, Dooley, Jones and Pruit because fans are never happy. Heupel will get us straight. Volbeers needs to put down the beers

I understand the frustration about the game today but UT won 11 games last year. Always a 7-9 win team under Heupel? Many fans and CFB experts predicted we would win 8 or 9 games this year. The personnel isn’t as good in 2023 compared to 2022.

Not even worth trying to reason with people who take the loss of a college football team personally, as if it is an affront to them. I have to believe (or hope) that these people are a minority of the fan base, and are simply butthurt at losing a bet or having co-workers/friends who are fans of other schools. I wonder if they hold their own lives to the standards they seem to hold UT football to.

This season is probably about where most objective observers would have predicted. The two that are most troubling are the UF loss (shows this program is still mentally weak) … and Missouri (with everything to play for, the team doesn’t even show up - more mental weakness).

There were other notable letdowns and missed opportunities, particularly the Alabama collapse, but after the era of Dooley, Butch, and Pruitt, it’s hard to be too upset. It’s yet to be seen if Heupel will ever get us over the hump - we’ve seen signs that we could be stuck in the “also ran” category. Who knows? I guess we’ll find out.

The consistent boneheaded penalties, the no-shows in big games, the lack of a killer instinct, etc. troubles me a bit. However, there’s still some reasons to be hopeful.
