I don't follow recruiting as closely as others, so forgive me if this is a dumb question, but we currently have 73 scholarship players and we are losing 13 to graduation, leaving us with 60. Unless some guys leave early, then signing 28 would put us at 88, three over the 85 limit. Am I missing something?
If you count Loften & Dixon then we have 9 remaining spots in this class. How do you think we finish up?
IMO:
OL:
4* Antonio Richardson
4* Cameron Clear
LB:
3* Gionni Paul
DB:
3* Derek King
3* Kadetrix Marcus/Geraldo Orta ( first one to commit )
DT:
4* Gabe Wright
4* Mickey Johnson
WR:
4* DeAnthony Arnett
3* Vincent Dallas
Hubbs said this morning that the staff might not take Dixon, that would leave 1 more spot & I think we would take 1 more DT.
4* JUCO Maurice Couch
And if Juda Parker DOES De-commit, I think we SHOULD take another look at Redding, JMO. Is he a world beater? No, but neither was Juda IMO. We need DTs BAD! We have a good shot at 3 ELITE DTs, probably will get 2, and 1 of them might not qualify.
It was to my understanding that Redding, also, had grade issues. If that is the case I plead the staff to look another direction. Sign and place prospects do UT no good. Imagine if the staff signs him and Mickey Johnson only to have both of them go the JUCO route. How bad would that suck? Horribly. We need players who QUALIFY.
Grades, my oh my grades. JEEZ, these kids don't get it do they?
A lot of kids come economically disadvantaged homes where education is not a priority. It's not as simple as checking a grade card.
My kids are in an economically disadvantaged home which makes it a huge priority. I quit shool to go to work at 16 to help out my family. I went to work with a flooring installer and learned that trade. I made a lot of money for a 26 years, but now I cant work because of shot knees and a degenerative disc disease (I have 4 herniated discs at this point, Doc says it will get worse). Moral of my story, I have made it a priority for my kids to get good grades and go to college. Being poor is no excuse for stupid decisions like the one I made. Also being poor is not an excuse for being to lazy to work at getting good grades. My kids are all honor roll.
