You are worried about mega churches?

Of course. Big Religion has always gotten a pass in this country because we have allowed it's exemption from all tax code. Flat tax the tithes and the donations just like we tax everything else. Do you really think they should not be held accountable? 15% across the board seems fair to me for all individuals and institutions, whether they are citizens or "non-profits". A flat tax would solve all of our problems, right?

Im for a flat tax, not sure why churches are the pushing point

And when we stand before God himself...as every man is appointed to do, I know this is one thing I won't have to answer for. I've made many mistakes and sinned plenty, but every single person who willingly voted against this knowing full well it was against Gods word will answer for it. These people have been ripping my views for a month, but I don't answer to them or the gay agenda. I answer to God, and Him alone.

You confuse personal beliefs and freedom.

With 300 employees, a projection of $77 million in annual revenue and audited financial statements, Houston's Lakewood Church sounds a lot like a business.

And in many ways, it is.

"It would be naive to say, 'No, we're not a business,' " Senior Pastor Joel Osteen said in an interview. "We obviously are a business because we're dealing with millions of dollars. And I say that because we don't take that lightly.

Big budget supports Lakewood's higher calling - Houston Chronicle

Time for honesty, lakewood is a church in name only.

Pursuing fraud, have at it

My church didnt legislate anything einstein. There are roughly 9.5million people here. Over 2 million voted and the vast majority of them approved this legislation. Its democracy. The same thing happened in your state too while you were sitting on your can. The majority of americans, religous or otherwise have passed this in 30 states. Including CA and WA. You are the minority. Not us. You lost. That's how democracy works.

It is truly sad how much you devalue freedom simply because you disagree with someone.

Democracy spoke through a popular vote to deny equal treatment under the law based solely on a theological pretext: that is theocratic.

That is patently false. This legislation has passed in 29 other states more than half of which are not in the bible belt including CA. North Carolina is an increasingly liberal swing state that elected Obama. Sadly. Also, charlotte (largest city,my temp. Home) was recently named by a "gay magazine" as the new gay capital of the south, replacing atlanta. This is not a super conservative bible thumping theocracy, neither are the other 29 states that passed this. The bottom line is while this country is going to Hell in a handbasket we aren't there yet. People still know what's. Right and wrong...what's natural and what isn't. Read about some of the crap that goes on in MA. Its insanity.

Desperate worthless rant. I've sat and watched my country be run in the ground by a community organizer for 4 years but accept it because I understand it was put to a vote and he won. You have turned to hatred towards me, made a fool of yourself, threatened to turn your back on God, and challenged the tax status of every church in America bc a popular vote IN A STATE YOU DON'T RESIDE didn't go the way you wanted it to. Brilliant work. Drunk again?

So your solution is giving up freedom, how are you different from Obama?

Ill answer for you, you are the same.

The fact that 29 other states have voted to deny equal status under the law does not make it right and does not mean that such attitudes are not based in biblical text. As for going to hell in a handbasket: fiat justitia ruat caelum (let justice be done though the heavens fall).

God said marriage was 1 man 1 woman. Wake up. If legislation that supports His word makes you question your belief in Him there is a logic problem somewhere. God doesn't change what's wrong and right to suit your buddies. They change their lives to suit Him. He is God, unchanging for eternity. They are humans whose purpose in life, every mans purpose; is to glorify God. Some learn this Truth and accept it. Other do not and burn. It really is that simple.

Do you not see the danger of having govt define marriage?

Do you want govt to define groups/people?

This is terrifying

So because it passed in 29 other states it makes it okay to steal basic human rights from a certain group? The only reason states are banning gay marriage is solely on religious grounds and when a government bans a practice based on religious interpretation than yes, in my opinion, it is a theocracy.

I hope someone sues. This needs to go through the court system and be heard by the SCOTUS. Enforcing religious views upon others is unconstitutional. Using religion to define what marriage is clearly goes against the separation of church and state. Too many people in power are hiding themselves from this fight. They're afraid of losing their power. Outlawing gay marriage is the segragation of our time. Society has singled out a group that is different and has decided to treat them unfairly. Why people don't see this boggles my mind. You don't have to agree with homosexuality or go against God to let other people be responsible for their lives. Believe what you believe and feel free to practice it, but afford others the same respect. To deny them that is nothing less than bigotry.

plus million

I've always considered myself a Christian. I believe in God. I believe in Christ. But some out there operating under the banner of "Christianity" have left me feeling my God and my Christ must be someone different than theirs. I don't remember Jesus forcing anyone to accept Him. He left the choice to them. But in today's world, it appears "Christians" know better than Christ and must enforce their will upon the masses. I wonder how my God would look upon that?

Amen!

It comes down to one thing, what would Jesus do?

1.) Jesus would not limit individual freedom

2.) Jesus would minister to homosexuals with love and compassion.

Hardly. However, ill be the first to admit that the constitution is not the document that guides my life. I don't pray over it, study it, strive to live by it. You don't either. Every man is appointed once to die, and then the judgment. When I stand before the maker of Heaven and Earth he's not going to ask me if I upheld the laws of men. He's going to care if I upheld His laws. You know that and so do I. The rest of these cats can plead ignorance OE you know the truth. You gonna step inthat booth and vote directly against Gods will?

I grew up in a religious household but I've come to the realization that I'd rather be a man of science, reason, and intelligence instead of being a religious nutcase (No offense). If there is a God than on Judgement Day I will rather stand on my principle than support a body that has only brought hate into this world.

Bottom line religion is an outdated system that is inherently evil and corrupted since it is ran by evil and corrupt men. Perhaps religion served a purpose in history but now all religion has brought this world is hate, death, destruction, etc etc and we need to, as a species, finally move on with our evolution and throw of the shackles holding us back.
