states rights. Don't like the rules of your state. Move.
again, this is not solely a religious issue. The atheist across the street from me would have voted against allowing gay marriage. I'm widely know as a Christian and probably would have voted for it. Or not voted at all on this issue.

This can't be possible, only evil Christians hate the personal freedoms of those they don't agree with.

Sadly the truth. The rest don't care enough to show up and prevent losing their rights.
The neighborhood I live in requires a vote of over 66% of home owners for the vote to count. Maybe we could handle public elections this way.


Nothing would ever pass.

the people pushing this specifically pointed out that the churches were the major player in getting it passed. To ignore that in favor of a single example (which may or may not even be correct) is a bit ridiculous

I bet the majority of people dont mind gay marriage, the issue is most people don't vote.

Also, religious organizations spend a lot of money to campaign against same sex marriages.

Lots of sheep in this country. I go to church like 4 times a year, only because my wife makes me and I enjoy some of the sermons. Couldnt really care less what the bible says. It's a collection of stories that in my mind aren't to be taken literally.

but they aren't "their rights" is the difference. It's actually sad that someone would need to go to the polls to protect the rights of another.

This is a bunch of zealots pushing their religious views on the citizens of NC.

It's the system we have and they should have gone to the polls to protect themselves. Just because you're not gay doesn't mean you're unaffected. Next time the vote might affect you. Or even worse no vote at all because a president has been set.
