If he gets some confidence going in to the season he is going to be awesome. We should have a pretty good season. What does everybody else think do we make the dance this yr or not?

iirc his sophmore year he was asked to run the pg spot at times. That was a huuuuge reason for his inconsistency on several occasions.

Also, Barton and Thompson will do a better job of getting McRae the ball in scoring opportunities than he has had since he has been here. IMO

Correct, playing out of position was a contributing factor as a sophomore. However,he just seemed to get so defeated mentally if he started a game slow, and those moments would turn into halves, which turned into games, then weeks, and so on. There was an 11-game stretch in the middle of the 2011-12 season in which he shot 25% (13-52) from the field and averaged 3.7 points in 14.5 minutes per game. That's bad, and for the better part of six weeks straight. That's just not the Jordan we saw last season.

He seemed to do a better job of playing without a conscience last season and we saw those mental lapses that led to weeks of bad shooting and bad decisions become less affected by a bad game the week before.

talented wing players love a pg that knows how to just play ball and doesn't need directions from the coach everytime down.
Actually, all players on the court do.

We will absolutely make the dance. We have 5 starters that could start anywhere in the country if they wanted, and I do mean anywhere... (Barton, Stokes, Mcrae, Maymon, Hubbs) This is the best lineup we've had since Lofton and crew... And I think this one is better considering our bench. Everyone should expect top 10 by midseason. THIS TEAM IS LEGIT... Just wish one of em could play QB

The SEC should be worried about us this year. We have all the tools to make a deep run into the SEC tournament and possibly the NCAA tournament. We may very well be the team to beat in the SEC besides Kentucky.

I doubt he's gone if he flops this season because we can't really afford (financially speaking) to fire him unless a donor ponies up the money to buy him out. I think he was getting four years regardless.

Your position is agreed to by many, but I just don't understand the math.

When you have a 20+K seat arena, if the coach underperforms and folks decide to stay at home it equates to millions in lost revenue. As I see it, UT can't afford not to can a coach if the program heads in the wrong direction.

Doesn't matter anyway, CCM going to get it done this year. CBJ might be lacking talent but CCM's cup is overflowing!

I don't recall Barton starting at Memphis?

Buzz Peterson got four years. Wade Houston got five. Those are two of the worst coaches in my lifetime. There were 5,000 people in the seats Wade's last season. We weren't paying enormous buyouts to football coaches during their tenures, and the athletic dept. wasn't in the red, and they were given at least four years. Barring NCAA investigations or an 0-15 start, CCM won't be fired for underachieving and missing the dance, and money will be part of the reason.

I agree though, it shouldn't matter because I think he'll get it done this season.
