A few practice updates from last night and today (Practice #13 thread)

Just 5 people eh? lol

At least you share the pain that I do about how people get defensive and have not an ounce of self-awareness to be able to realize why.

I am fairly liberal with my use of the ignore feature and you haven't made my list so you can't be all that bad.

JMO, But nothing you have typed on this thread seems enough for anyone to ignore you let alone bust their cherry for you.

I also get a little tired of coach speak and I rarely listen to his pressers. Just get the cliffsnotes from VolNation.

I have always enjoyed your posts Zans lol. Maybe because you are one of the people that actually posts in the basketball forum too. Maybe I should go back lol.

Nothing going on in the basketball forum these days. There was a SD sighting which stirred some activity but other than that just missing on recruits right now. BTO's got all that covered.

Yeah, took a mini-break because almost every thread gets hijacked by people trying to rail BTO about Martin. I mean BTO is snarky, but c'mon people, just let it go.

Any word on Justin King or Kenny Bynum, I was just curious if they might get in the rotation at linebacker this season?

He's seen some playing time with AJ Johnson sitting out some of the recent practices.

Bynum appears to well ahead of 6-foot, 236-pound freshman Gavin Bryant, and it looks like fellow freshman Neiko Creamer, who arrived in January expecting to play receiver, could be a factor on special teams.

"Kenny Bynum has a good feel for the game," Thigpen said. "[Bryant's] a little bit behind as far as the communication. That Mike position, we say that's the most difficult position on the field, if you're a Mike linebacker. He has to get everybody lined up and know all the checks.

"He's a little bit behind the 8-ball right now trying to catch up, but the kid has a lot of pride, and like Dillon, he asks a lot of questions and comes in and does a lot of one-on-one time."

Worley should be the starter IMO, especially with such an inexperienced OL. Why risk seriously injuring our 2 sophomore QBs, when Worley is more experienced and physically more mature. Give the OL a little more game experience, time to gel and find their footing and then replace Worley if he's struggling after a few games.

Actually peterman is physically more mature than worley. an article the other day said hes on pace to be our strongest qb ever. add that to the fact that hes a more natural runner and i think he would do better behind a green line than worley.

I don't care who it is as long as they "got game"....

14 looked good last night and had another strong showing today.

Coleman Thomas continues to impress. He split time with the 1s and 2s.

Nothing new but Josh Smith ran with the ones. He is really making a case to be a starter.

AJ and North are still limited due to not risking injury for the season.

Defense got the best of the offense. The speed on the defense (especially the DL) gave the OL some problems.

Wharton may be a name to watch for in the kick return game. He does really well fielding punts when a defender in his face.

Darr seemed to be punting the ball well. Hopefully he will show us why he was the #1 punter in his class.

Hurd has some of the best pass blocking skills I have seen in a RB at UT in quite some time. He is not afraid to fill the gap when a LB is blitzing.

Jordan Williams continues to get work at DE and DT. He is exceptional at tackle when he can pin his ears back and rush. He should play both positions as the season continues.

Ryan Jenkins had another good practice yesterday. He seems to be one of the forgotten players with most people. If healthy he could push for some serious PT this season. I just hope we have a sufficient QB to get all the WRs the ball.

Gaulden was back practicing after being banged up. The staff loves his knack for wanting to hit people. He has shown some flashes of a Jazen type player when lowering his shoulder.

I think this is the key to the entire season.

What are you talking about? Yes, I do that. It is what I have been doing for a while now. I read the transcripts. I have said that like 5 times now. Did you read all those posts where I said that? What are you trying to say? Are you just making an observation? yes, I don't watch the videos anymore.

So, you're...

Repeating yourself? lol

So this thread got hijacked for a couple of pages by folks telling a guy who said he didn't listen to Butch ' s pressers not to listen to his pressers. The thing he was already not doing. LOL. Only on volnation during the offseason...

Why are you so pissy?

Because I was forced to defend myself over making a statement about how Butch intentionally is vague with the media. A statement most people agree with, but they got upset as if I was trashing their coach. I wasn't. I think they were the ones being "pissy"

I have to say. When watching these videos of the QB's all together throwing to receivers, Wegzyn seems to be the most accurate the farther the throws get. Anyone know the story on this kid?

Lightly recruited out of Knoxville Catholic HS. Committed and played for UMass.

He walked on and the initial info was that he was going to be our scout team QB.
