A few practice updates from last night and today (Practice #13 thread)

Alright people. Who here thinks this years OL will be AS GOOD or BETTER than last year?
I've seen several posters saying this and would like to see what others think.

I don't think we'll be any worse, but not sure we'll be much better... what we lose in experience we gain in agility and familiarity of system.

I'm most worried about left tackle against dynamic pass rushers.

I refuse to listen to his interviews and just skim the transcripts instead because it is 99 percent coach speak. He is one of the coach speakiest coach speakers around.

He preaches consistency day in and day out with this team. I'm glad he has a consistent message...I could listen to him all day. He shows conviction in the beliefs he feels are important to the development of this team.

It can only be a good thing that his message is consistent...especially with such a young and inexperienced squad. It means that he'll be able to raise 'em like he wants 'em.

Something that no one seems to be talking about is the lack of push it sounds like our D line is getting and the overall sub-par play by the entire D so far... Butch was even getting on to them. Its the classic case of is our Offense that good or our Defense that bad? I know we are a ways off until the season, but I thought I would be hearing a little more noise from our D line at this point. Haven't heard much from Sawyers.... Our new O line must be coming together at light speed or we might be in trouble on the D line.

Have you even been reading the practice reports?

Your lost! :banghead2: :bash: :post-4-1090547912:

I can't tell if this is satire. If it isn't, then you get off using the words consistent and consistency the same way CBJ does.

You think he will give Worley the nod since he's a Sr.. Surely not...

Worley should be the starter IMO, especially with such an inexperienced OL. Why risk seriously injuring our 2 sophomore QBs, when Worley is more experienced and physically more mature. Give the OL a little more game experience, time to gel and find their footing and then replace Worley if he's struggling after a few games.

If it's really a high ankle sprain he'll be out a month, minimum.

Yes that is the norm for grade 1 or grade 2 high-ankle sprains. I'm sure they are being aggressive in treatment plus wearing the boot will help the timeline a bit as well. He's losing cardio which is not good either during this time. Really hate it for him.

Why exactly do you hate him so much?

I think he is a great head coach. His coach speak has literal nothing to do with how I feel about him. All I said is that i would rather not waste time listening to him repeat himself over and over about how he is looking for us to have consistent consistency in our up-tempo consistency

Not satire...I just see what Butch is trying to accomplish. Sorry that you don't...but whatever, to each his own.

If you think the stuff he says is constructive then you must really wanna sip his jock water. He is intentionally being vague at all times. He must have you tricked.

Um, you do realize that you do have a choice, correct?

Butch absolutely stays on script and does everything possible to control the message he wants to convey. I wonder how different he is off-mic and off the cuff?

Maybe you could put him on ignore?!

If you went solely by his interviews, you would think the man has no personality whatsoever.

I think that's just his angle on doing interviews. He knows he has to do them, but he almost never drops any real information. He definitely keeps a tight lid on everything in the football program.

He keeps a tight lid on it as he absolutely should. I think you are exactly right.

You are right about the boot and Tx.....!

He won't be losing cardio as they can utilize a arm bike or even swimming to say the least!

I'd like to know why people keep saying this new OL is so "nasty". I dont remember watching these guys play that much since they were all backups.

Crowder and Kerbyson play with an edge our guys didn't play with last year. Fulton was really the only one with a meanness to the way he played and I think we have 2-3 that will play that way now.

Yes, and I skim the transcripts instead just as I stated in my OP that butt hurt everyone. It appears my "choice" is what offended everyone, so how about you take it up with them.

Just my take, but Butch is gonna Butch. Some of his interviews are white gravy, bland and made to pour over a stale biscuit. Fluff basically. But other times he hits with "When we need the beast, you have to be the beast". Motivation for the players, fluff for the press.
