everyone is missing the point... having athletes and getting them to wear the other team out with relentless defensive pressure is supposed to be pearls THING. he recruits athletes cuz he's seeing them creating havoc in the press. only pearl can't get any of these guys to give any kind of effort. he can't get them to press. which is the most pathetic aspect of his coaching. the great motivator is no motivator at all.

So it seems even after you watch his improvement continue NOT to happen you still hold out hope that it suddenly will?

I thought he looked better this year than last. He still cant make a lay-up but he has gotten better on the boards and defensively as far as I could tell.

So again...after reading your description, you seriously believe he will suddenly "step it up". I've heard of blind faith before but you are pretty much taking the cake.

This team plays with no heart most of the time. They are more concerned about looking 'cool' than playing the game. Bruce's passion on the sideline is totally ignored on the court. One has to wonder if they even respect their coach.

Pearl has made the Vols relevant, better and interesting. It gets us in the tourney--and that's a big deal. We are above average, maybe good if one is loose with that term, but obviously not good enough to make any real noise in the tourney, so I don't see the point in wringing my hands. If we beat Kentucky, I might change my opinion, but I doubt we will.

I laughed as much as anyone when they showed Chism and Prince sitting in the recliners Saturday. However, when you are still "technically" in a conference race and play another top 25 team (and not a one man band), you better make damn sure your team is ready to play after they pull a stunt like that. Also, I don't give a flip about how many division titles you have won. That was fun to celebrate in 99 when we hadn't so much as sniffed a title of anything in 20 years, not now. You are making nearly $2 million a year and "negoitiated: your way into having some of the best basketball facilities in America. It's time to start setting big boy goals and achieving them. Division titles aren't much to brag about.

Steven Pearl - Please go to your father and say the following since he or an assistant can't muster up the courage to admit it - "Father, please do not play me meaningful minutes against an above average or better team. I will just embarass myself, you, and UT. Wayne Chism - I never thought when you graduated Bolivar High School that you would have a better college career than Willie Kemp. Now that you've actually settled down you are a legitimate All-SEC and 3rd team All-American player.

If we beat Ky you and they play great will you sing the same tune? We all know everyone will anoint this team if they beat Ky. We are the most fickle fanbase in America.

If this team goes into Rupp Arena and beats Kentucky I will start a thread Sunday morning congradulating them and eating every bit of crow I deserve. Quite honestly I will be pleased if we keep it to a single digit loss.

No, you pretty much came in guns-a-blazin' that 3 games in 6 days is why we had such a debacle last night.

If you feel that passionately as you first started in this thread, don't back down when someone calls you on it.

Stay with your belief, even though it is dead wrong.
