Thankfully we have the quality win over Bama to stay in contention. The loser of the Texas/A&M game will have their best win being over either LSU or Michigan.

Sure would be nice if Bama beat LSU next weekend to make our biggest win look better than A&Ms biggest win.

Hope you are right, but it doesn’t seem we are better than both. I think GA wins the Bama game at home and we lose it away. The GA game is away, so I am not banking on that the way we have been playing entire games.. We play the way we have the potential to and did 4th Q against Bama, I think we have a good shot. I think it is perfect we have two games before Georgia.

ESPN currently projects us as 10-2 and the 12th seed on the road versus a 5 seed Penn State. I’d take that in a heartbeat! The 2nd round game they project versus a 4 seed, Big 12 champ BYU. That would be a tremendous draw. I think we could almost walk into the semis.

We can’t look too far ahead once again, but man I agree that would be nice. We have to play every game like it’s a championship game. Vandy is for real and that’s on their turf. KY somehow plays better away. Mission St has played some decent teams close. I would be surprised if we get in at 10-2. I think that all depends on how well we play in the wins.

Nico is way better than Reed. Reed completed 2 passes all night. Our defense would eat him alive. He’s a poor man’s Milroe

Reed threw a beautiful ball against a good D, but small sample size. So, hard to tell. He looked better in that small sample than what we have seen from Nico against like competition IMO. I am a believer in Nico, but Reed showed out much sooner in a bigger game.

A&M found a gem in Reed that looks like we had hoped Nico would look like as a Feshman. Still think he will get there.

Vandy’s coach is gone after this year. He may be called on by Florida. Albeit, Florida’s losses are looking defendable. (TN, Miami and A&M) if they win out, Napier may have saved his job. Wait, they have Georgia, TX LSU and Ole Miss. He gone too, but in a different way.

If we go 10-2, again talk about the parity for us to do that and not get in.

Will we, or can we beat GA in their house? Looks like that may be a requirement to get in.

My bad, I was about to say I’m not even going to think about that right now. The margin is thin and we have KY and Miss St. to focus heavily on.

Hopefully Josh doesn’t send the kids home to be with their parents like he did before the Arkansas game. I felt that was a bad and soft move and probably because he put too much stock in the win against Oklahoma. That is probably the only point where he let the importance of that game to him get in his way.

Maybe I’m reading too much into that. Wouldn’t be the first time, hence the reference to the Alabama, Georgia and everybody else post I made way too early to tell.

Old Miss destroyed those kids in their house.

If we end up 10-2 by playing like we have been, that is due to our schedule IMO.

Hopefully we see some continued improvement over the next couple of weeks.

I’m not buying A&M stock after that win. Obviously they played good to close it out, so kudos to them, but two key factors played into it: 1. LSU has no run game and 2. It was clear they were not at all prepared for the backup with a completely different play style.

BK and LSU were on their heels as soon as a mobile QB came in. Their D was baited by every play action because the starter never really ran it with confidence like the backup so they always went for the RB.

Stack up A&M against a team like UGA with studs all around the defense and disciplined gap assignments for play action and see how they really do.

Also A&M never really had to play more than 4 guys to stop the run. You are going to be hard to pass against when you have 7 guys in coverage. That gives you enough for two high safety mixed zone and man looks which is REALLY hard to beat in college. Nuss also was hurt so he barely ran. They were one dimensional.

I agree. Nobody is going to get baited into those play action looks like LSU did now that the tape is there.

Right now, Texas has 0 good wins and their lone shot at one in the regular season is A&M. A&M has LSU, as Missouri is clearly a paper tiger who should be out of the rankings for the rest of the season. So if Texas loses to A&M, they should be out with 2 losses and no good wins. If A&M only loses to Texas the rest of the way, their best win will be vs LSU and ours, if we lose to Georgia, would be Alabama. So whomever wins that game between LSU and Alabama could be a major factor. How would the committee view a 1 loss Indiana team? They play absolutely no one all season except Ohio State and it looks like 11-1 is their floor. Penn State is Indiana but with less impressive margins of victory. They also play no one all season except Ohio State. Will that be a game where PSU loses and drops 3 spots in the poll?

Then you have to consider conference championship game losers. It's going to make someone mad, no matter what. Hopefully we beat UGA and are done with it.

Indiana gets OSU as their one 'tough' game as well. The Big 10 could conceivably have three teams 11-1 or 12-0, and all of them would be playoff locks.

It might sound crazy, but I would actually prefer it at this point if the SEC added four solid schools (maybe Clemson, FSU, UNC, and Va.Tech) and just had its own season and playoff for a championship rather than having to compete for spots with teams from inferior leagues - including the Big 10 - and having deserving 2-loss teams shut out for pretenders like Penn State, Indiana, and Iowa State.

Not if he is going into business with the Big 10, which is a couple of potentially elite teams (Oregon, OSU), a few pretty good teams, and a whole lot of dreck. Now if the Ohio States, Penn States, and Oregons had to play an SEC level schedule, different story, but as long as the bottom dozen or so Big 10 teams were involved, the 'super league' would still be full of mediocrity.

Clark Lea isn’t leaving Vandy. He’s an alumni and they will pay to keep him. I’ll get bashed for this, but we deserve to be left out at 10-2 due to our weak schedule. Shouldn’t have lost to Arkansas or we wouldn’t have this problem. Reed looked great last night, but now opposing defenses will prepare for him. We’ll see what happens.

I don't think LSU is very good to be frank. They are a product of a soft schedule similar to Missouri. South Carolina should have beaten them if not for bad officiating.

Y’all are writing off Bama way too quickly. They got caught sleeping against a solid Vandy team, struggled against Cackalacky’s very strong pass rush, and then ran into a buzz saw in Neyland. You’ve seen what Vandy did against Texas and what the Poultry have done to teams at time this year. The second half version of our Vols could beat anybody in the country.

Remember what Bubba did to the mutts in the first half. Milroe is inconsistent, and their defense is shaky, but they still have potential. LSU’s loss to USC is worse than a loss to Vandy at this point, imo. Remember that they nearly lost to USCe as well. They’re also very inconsistent since Kelly got there. I would not be at all surprised to see Bama roll into death valley and get a dub. We need them to.
