A&M, Georgia and Everybody Else

I’d love it if we went down there and pulled off a shocker, but nothing I’ve seen indicates we can do that. We aren’t on their level yet.
Nothing you’ve seen? Really? Nothing? How bout the fact that we beat and should have blown out a team they lost to and at one point were getting shellacked by? How about their close call against Kentucky, which is a far worse team than Florida or Arkansas, Beck’s inconsistency, their lack of a run game for much of the season, or their close win against MSU, a team that got blown out at home by Toledo?

Given our struggles on offense, the way UGA looked against Texas, and the fact the game is in Athens, I can totally buy saying you don’t expect us to win. But saying you’ve seen nothing to indicate that we can win is ridiculous.

Reed threw a beautiful ball against a good D, but small sample size. So, hard to tell. He looked better in that small sample than what we have seen from Nico against like competition IMO. I am a believer in Nico, but Reed showed out much sooner in a bigger game.
Are you kidding me? Did you see Nico in the second half vs Bama?

Y’all are writing off Bama way too quickly. They got caught sleeping against a solid Vandy team, struggled against Cackalacky’s very strong pass rush, and then ran into a buzz saw in Neyland. You’ve seen what Vandy did against Texas and what the Poultry have done to teams at time this year. The second half version of our Vols could beat anybody in the country.

Remember what Bubba did to the mutts in the first half. Milroe is inconsistent, and their defense is shaky, but they still have potential. LSU’s loss to USC is worse than a loss to Vandy at this point, imo. Remember that they nearly lost to USCe as well. They’re also very inconsistent since Kelly got there. I would not be at all surprised to see Bama roll into death valley and get a dub. We need them to.

Totally expect Bama to beat LSU, who have been almost as overrated as Dickwitz. A&M is a solid team, but will be in trouble if USCjr is a night game.

The team to really watch is Texas. With that OL, they are incredibly vulnerable, especially closing at what should be an insane Kyle Field.

Looks like A&M may have found a QB who can score some points for them. However, LSU played well in the first quarter and then fell apart with their own mistakes. LSU simply gave the game away. If our offense can get its act together , we have a good chance to play A&M in the Championship Game. Our defense is special and all we need is for the offense to carry its weight to beat Georgia.
That's called Kelly Ball. LSU will forever be a what-if team as long as he is coaching there. Think I'd rather have coach O still if I were them.

Do we all agree with this (barring major upsets)?

Playoff locks:
Tenn/UGA winner (11-1)
Texas/A&M winner (11-1)

Likely in:
LSU/Bama winner (10-2)

Bubble:
Tenn/UGA loser (10-2)
Texas/A&M loser (10-2)

Out:
LSU/Bama loser (9-3)
Missouri (10-2 at best)
You're forgetting the SEC championship game. TX/A&M or TN/GA winner, one of those will = lose in the SEC championship and no longer be a lock.

You’re grasping at straws. We aren’t winning in Athens.

Trivia: Name an SEC quarterback who has thrown 8 interceptions in their past 4 games.

Bonus Question: Name an SEC team who had less than 300 yards of offense in their most recent game.

Should it ? No considering UT has the head to head win.

But I remember that 2022 BS of them ranking Bama ahead of us. Either way Bama ain’t winning out. Milroe will crumble in Death Valley like he did Neyland
I don't think LSU is that good. Their defense is defiantly not as good as ours. Our running game is better as well. Only their dink and dunk pass game is better, but we will improve in that area as Nico gets more experience.

Beck has thrown 8 interceptions in his last 4 games. That gives me hope
He has never really had to deal with pressure. Having 5 star linemen makes you look really good. Anytime he gets consistent pressure he starts making bad decisions. He's just not used to it. If we make him uncomfortable, I really like our chances.

The thing about UGa is that Smart will have them ready for games like us, the way they were ready against Texas and came out in the second half at Bama. I believe he has an issue keeping his 5-stars interested enough against the Kentucky's and Miss. St's, but a home game late in the season against UT? I'd be stunned if they aren't in full froth.

Can we win there? I believe we can if the offense continues to progress over the next couple of weeks. With our defense I don't see us getting blown out by any means, but it will take a supreme effort in all three phases to walk out of there with a W.

Clark Lea isn’t leaving Vandy. He’s an alumni and they will pay to keep him. I’ll get bashed for this, but we deserve to be left out at 10-2 due to our weak schedule. Shouldn’t have lost to Arkansas or we wouldn’t have this problem. Reed looked great last night, but now opposing defenses will prepare for him. We’ll see what happens.

I agree that you guys shouldn’t have lost to Arkansas, that has made things tough. It’s not like the Razorbacks are a bad team though, yet how they finish will tell the tale.

Finishing 10-2 should get you guys to the Playoff, but I agree with @sami that it will depend more on how others end the season and how they are ranked. We’ve never seen a 12 team Playoff so it’s hard to tell how they will attempt to seed this thing. Will they truly look for the best teams or will they go in a different direction? Will they rank some B1G team that has basically beaten no one above a more deserving and better SEC team?

In the end just win and you’re in. Yes that’s much easier said than done when you gotta play a game in Athens to get there, but you never know. I honestly think that game has the potential to be a great game. I see it coming down to the LOS and who controls it, barring one team just imploding.

In any event I think a 10-2 TN team will have a decent shot at making it. Presumably the second loss on the road to GA isn’t the worst loss to be hit with. If that does come to pass, hopefully you Vols don’t get screwed in the final rankings.

Seriously, what's the point of even watching or following the sport with that mindset? The asinine "BVS" garbage should be long gone at this point - we're here to stay in the upper echelon of CFB, and anyone who wants to believe differently just likes being miserable.

We will have to play much better than Georgia to beat them at home. The calls aren’t going to go our way. It’s going to take us manhandling them to come out with the win.

Agree. Really, from day one the idea of the SEC being on equal footing with the Big 10 pissed me off, but the cold, hard truth is that it's always about money. The fact is that the Big 10 has the biggest media markets, regardless of the mediocrity of the teams in those markets.

I have no doubt that an SEC team that has gone through a meat grinder schedule is going to get bumped by a 1-loss Penn State, Indiana, or Iowa State who played no one all season. The "committee" will make sure that both conferences are represented equally.

Yes I hate it, but unfortunately I completely agree with you and I completely agree with the reasons you’ve stated. There will likely be at least one SEC team that gets screwed. It heightens the importance of the TN at GA game for sure, bc the loser of that game could be the team that gets screwed.

“I told you so” is the reason. Being right is most important to know it alls
