Spring ends on June 21, 2011.

Sometime within the next 3 weeks, A&M will announce its move to the SEC:
Anybody know anything just read it over on tigerdroppings. only curious to see if it will happen or if its just off season boredom?:dunno:

it's only a matter of time and the pac-12 contract made teh big-12 payout last summer look like chickenfeed.

This would be great. I love A&M's traditions. I think they'd be a great fit in our league. The only question would be who to add along with them. I'd vote for FSU, VT, or Oklahoma in that order.... assuming that Texas didn't want to come.

This is going to be like last summer, rumors everyday about super conferences. I think it will happen eventually, but read about it everyday.

It does seem that the die is cast, but I don't see it being imminent.

I think if it happened Texas might just become independent since they got the tv contract.

Anyone else think adding A&M wouldn't really make things much better for the SEC?

This would be very good for the SEC. Not only because of the TV markets, but because you would be giving recruits in one of the top five high school football states in the country, 13-14 NEW schools to choose from that would play in their own back yard. It's the same reasoning that South Florida makes sense in the Big East. Texas A&M could stick it to UT(exas), and offer recruits a chance to play on THE biggest college football stage in America.

And for the love of God, please no one argue that they are in anyway scared of adding another quality opponent to the league. Florida, Georgia, Tennesse, Auburn, Bama, LSU, etc... Like adding one or two more quality teams would change the undeniable fact that winning in the SEC is more cyclical than 13 year cicadas?

From the resident Ag, I'd like to beat an SEC team first.

Losses to:

Arky twice now in our contract with them that will last a decade.

Georgia in a bowl the day my kid was born.

LSU last year.

Vader, hit me with your pic. The floor is yours amigo.

Valid concern, but being a school that size, with unbelievable resources already, topped off by being the ONLY sec school in Texas? My friend, as good as this would be for the sec, I believe it would be even better for A&M.

Just my opinion anyway.

Since I know this isn't April fools day, some fool must be reading an article that's about a year old and posting drunk.

Don't be mistaken, there's a SECede bumper sticker on my jeep as we speak.

I'm just going on record before the SEC honks come in here and make their claims.

I'm aware of the records. I'm aware/concerned with the recruiting tactics that it takes to win there. I'm aware that Gene sits atop on our BOR and has campaigned for this a bit. I'm also aware that last year, Slive came by and I don't think it was to catch a burger and beer at the Dixie Chicken.

My thing is if we are really coming this early, I would be aware of that too. It's gonna happen. I said it'd take 3 years.

We'll see, but it would help if we beat someone first. I expect that to happen this coming season.

Doubt if it happens at this time, but it would be a great move for the SEC and A&M.

Actually A&M has beaten every SEC team it's played except Tennessee. :)

Not to mention, IIRC, Kyle Field will have the biggest or 2nd biggest capacity in the SEC after expansion.

I would rather see the Big XII make some very enticing offers to Arkansas and Iowa. The SEC should pull Georgia Tech away from the ACC and then trade South Carolina for Clemson and Vandy for Memphis.

I think this would be great for A&M.. would give them much more recruiting power in their state.. would also increase their revenue so they might be able to upgrade facilities.. JMO

You know I was talking within the last decade, but fair point.

Furthermore, Kyle owns.
