A&M to announce move to SEC in June?

Georgia Tech voluntarily chose to leave the SEC because they considered themselves superior to the rest of the league. Any university president who votes to allow that trash back in the league should be removed from their post immediately.

The reason Tech left has more to do with Bear Bryant, cheating, and Bama thugs than it does elitism. Can not say that I blame Tech.

This is one of those urban myths that never seems to die. Tech had started making efforts to leave the SEC in 1959, 2 years before the Chick Granning/Darwin Holt incident.

add those schools and you wont win basketball either.

Given a choice, I'd prefer:
1. Texas
2. Texas A&M
3. Duke
4. Carolina

SEC expands East and West geographically, and each brings a national fan presence.

The SEC gets major upticks in academic standing (at least overall).

The ACC schools instantly legitimize their football programs, while doing the same for our basketball play, as a conference.

Texas and A&M become part of the greatest conference in the country, and expand their television reach from west Texas to the east coast, and from the northern tip of Kentucky to the sandy beaches of Miami. And unlike the PAC-12 and Big 10 (11? 12?), the SEC doesn't prohibit it's members from negotiating and securing their own television deals - which seems to be Texas' wet dream.

Teams I have zero interest in and / or who would be of far lesser value:
1. Georgia Tech
2. Miami
3. FSU
4. VT
5. Memphis (would rather have MTSU, and yet still, would prefer herpes to either)

My $.02

I'd much rather have MTSU than herpes. MTSU has some of the hottest chicks of the in-state colleges, so you can't go wrong there. The jury is still out on Memphis vs herpes.

I've tried making the basketball argument before, and while I see the merit, this is a football conference, and even if we add Duke and UNC, it's still going to be a football conference. There is no financial benefit, and it's all about the Benjamin's at the end of the day.

Why would the SEC move into College Station ?...They already have Starkville...

If the SEC wants to get a Texas team go after Texas...Then add The U for the SECE...

I lived in Murfreesboro for 2 years and was not impressed with the local talent. I will take your word for it though.

I would prefer to disband the SEC than allow either MTSU or Memphis as a member.

In either event, the result would be the same, but at least disbandment wouldn't come with the overwhelming sense of stupidity and shame.

if and when the time comes that the SEC expands the additional teams will come from BCS schools.

That may be, but the Ganning/Holt incident certainly gave Ga Tech the excuse it was looking for to leave the SEC. Also, Bobby Dodd did not like the SEC over signing players (sound familier?). I have always thought Ga Tech left the SEC mainly because they thought that they were "better". I still think that the elitism had more to do with it than anything.

Tiger Droppings is hilariously bad.

Also, A&M to the SEC would suck really badly. Not because I don't like A&M, but because I hate expansion.

For me a&m and VT make the most likely additions. Not neccessarily the best especially for VT but the most likely. I personally would be good with both or even a Ga tech to close out GA to SEC play.
