A telltale sign at the Vol Walk

You don't have to be an ass kissing cheerleader to be a leader and a good QB on the field. Had he played a great game and the Vols won....you would have been saying how poised and focused he was for the game and said he was way beyond his years.

Meh.

I may throw a bottle at the next player that's not jumping around and passing out high fives to a bunch of college kids and middle age men living their dream through someone else.

Truth. Been saying it since fall camp. Not ready. Does not make him a bad person or football player. Just not ready. Which IS a reflection on the coaching staff that he is not ready and they are still playing him.
Or they had no other option.

Exactly. How is starting freshman going to help. High school ball is totally different than sec ball. Coach needs to change his thinking and belittling. All show and no action!

He is building a program, playing freshman and taking the lumps like men (unlike most on here this morning)is part of the process and will keep us from having only one QB with game experience next year. We have to play them if we ever won't this ****e to end!

He didn't ask to start, was forced by injury! He is a true freshman and it damn sure has something to do with his play. I can tell most on here are not as smart as this true freshman.lol Dumbazzez abound!

I think the problem that many of us, myself included, have is putting ourselves in the shoes of these kids.

In reality, watching college football is a hobby and a way to escape from the reality and stresses of real life for a few hours a week. Many people live vicariously through the success of these kids. When they don't perform to our expectations it's easy just to bash them. How many people on here think that they could easily handle that kind of pressure at 18 years old?

For the first time I got to be at the very front of the crown for the Vol Walk. It was great. I got to shake the players hands and basically be about a foot from all of them. Here's what I saw.

AJ- Cocky, laughing, slapping hands with everyone.

Rajion- Smiling, acknowledging the crowd

Lane- Same as Rajion

Maggit-Firing up the crowd. Talking to everyone. Telling the whole crowd Tennessee was going to take care of business.

Dobbs- Completely and utterly terrified. Looking straight forward. Hands to his side, not acknowledging the crowd.

I told everyone I was with it was a bad sign. This kid has zero confidence, zero leadership, and very little skill. He's not an SEC quarterback.

That is all.

Oh please say more. Please please!!

I meant the freshman coming next season. Dobb's has done well enough for being thrown in there. Coach just needs to look more at his rebuilding tactics. Now he needs to walk the walk.

And you guys wonder why people (even within the fanbase) think that the majority of the Tennessee fanbase is dumber than ****. Guess what, it's **** like this.

So many replies saying why is he starting the freshman anyway. This fanbase is truly the most bipolar ive ever seen. Do you not remember every single game ASKING for a freshman? There's even a thread about why didn't ferguson play yesterday...

First Vol Walk I ever went to Casey Clausen walked by looking like a hung over homeless man in a trench coat and didn't acknowledge anyone. Then he went and had a great game.

Think some may read a little to much into how people act at the Vol Walk.

Florida St. QB Winston says "hello"

Yeah, because we all know that when one freshman QB (who is a redshirt freshman, btw) has an outstanding year, that means that all true freshman QBs should be measured to that standard and sent to their rightful place in Division 3 if they don't produce immediate dividends.

Hell, he probably isn't a VFL either. You see that kid yesterday? He didn't talk to the fans, and then he punted a baby that was wrapped in an orange blanket.
