About Nico

I'm a pretty big vol fan as my 2nd team but you guys have a garbage as hell fanbase who are absolutely manchildren, loser mentality bunch of sorry people.

To the vols who are the opposite you are incredible people, peak southern class and comfort. Likely actual graduates, educated and logical
You root for WVU. Literally the dumbest, most redneck, and least educated trash in the country.

I'm a WVU alumnus. Trust me, most of the people that attended the school detest the t-shirt fans from WV that actually go to games.

Nico was not the problem last night.
First, the O-Line just got manhandled all night long it seemed.
Second, our stellar RB sat on the sideline because his injury was perhaps more significant than we thought.
Third, our WR corps is not a top-tiered corps. When they have press coverage on them, they can't find ways to get open.
Fourth, our D-Line wasn't getting home during OSU's offensive series.
Fifth, our LB corps is not good at all. They are virtually zero help in pass defensive taking wrong angles and poorly executing.
Last, we have some areas in coaching and preparation that seriously need overhaul and I don't mean Heupel. Heupel resurrected this mess that Dooley, Lane, Bitch, and Pruitt created.
That is my opinion. Happy as hell with the Vols overall season. They overachieved by all measures. They just hit a really good team (perhaps the best team) in the CFP that had a reason to show out last night.

Nobody transfers to be a backup, folks.
^This is why teams like Indiana & others etc. , Arizona State who was picked last in their conference have great seasons. They go out and offer a back-up that was a high 4 or 5 star but is on a team that has a established QB so with instant portal no sit outs. These teams get lucky and get a QB that fits their scheme and chemistry and they are a contender and hard to beat like Diego Pavia at Vanderbilt. I would say Macintyre will give it 1 redshirt year scan the horizon and make is choice should I stay or go that's the new college football. Don't do too much celebrating on HS signing day the guy you're celebrating may be punching you're beloved team in the mouth in a couple years

Nico is the ONLY reason Tennessee put points on the scoreboard. He was far from perfect, but the man put the whole game on his shoulders when nobody else would step up.

It's why CJH cannot recruit 5 star QBs.
I thought Nico was 5 star, I don't follow recruiting was he a high 4 star? Seems like he was the 1st high paid NIL, I just assumed he was a 5 star since they were saying 8 million over 4 years, until I saw your post.

I typed that with top-tier sarcasm. Nico, GMac, and Faison are all 5 star...or at least 2/3 are.

Shut up. He was the only guy who showed up and looked like he belonged on the field with Ohio State.

We need an o-line, receivers, and defense. Everyone other than Nico was putrid tonight.
He didn't complete a pass until the 2nd qtr and for the game completed 14 for 104 yards. I'm not gonna hate on Nico but I'm not sure why people are acting like he balled out and everyone else was bad. He wasn't good.

Anything that starts with how poorly the team played has to start and end with the coaching staff. Whoever calls the offensive plays has NEVER dialed up those that might compensate for a below avg OL and plays that might give Nico confidence. I can’t recall any adjustments made at the half and this was readily apparent in the Arky game.

Ummm ... OSU lived in our backfield ..the kid never had a pocket. When he got lucky and did have one, the receivers couldn't get open and there was nobody to throw to. Nico had his hat cracked, had the hell beat out of him and was still the only reason you looked as good as you did last night. We just ran in to a better team. I was one of the biggest SEC chest pounders out here. So much so that last night was the first time I've even seen OSU play a game. Now, I have no idea how Michigan beat that team and you beat us...hell, I hope they win the whole thing.

In my opinion, Nico “gave his all for Tennessee “ last night. NO quarterback on a top tier team, which Tennessee is… should have to be the primary rushing back, and be responsible for the passing game. Nico had to run the ball waaayyy too much last night. Trying to play a quality opponent who came out “ hair on fire”, with a one-dimensional offense will never end well.

I'll tell you why he missed the majority of his throws. His O line stunk to high heaven. He didnt have time to change his mind before OSU was in his grill. He is the only guy on the whole team tonight that even halfway did what he was supposed to do. He finally got tired of the crap and did it himself.
Yep. Our OL was so bad.

Nico played hard, and ran the ball effectively. His oline was garbage and really had been all year. His WRs do not help him and in general do not get separation. The Oline and WRs have to be better for him.

He’s a tough player, and I think he could be a good QB going forward.

Having said all of that . . . We really don’t know what his ceiling is . . . But I think we will know by mid year next year. He could get much better at reading defenses and much better with throwing the deep ball . . . Or he may not.

We will probably see better QBs in the conference than him next year.

He's not going pro next year unless he makes a massive leap..He's been very slow to develop. To be fair he has a trash oline and mediocre receivers so that does make it tougher.

What do you care? Here's an idea, keep the QB you feel sorry for, who is not good, and pay him millions of dollars, just because you like him. Continue to support him, no matter how bad the situation. Spread the misery across the entire program, the players, the donors, the fan base and all of Tennessee. Ruin your program. That would fulfill your socialist utopia.
Dragging politics into the football forum, eh? I'm a Vols supporter, through thick and thin. Unlike you Bama tapeworms, who are Vols fans only when we win. How's that for politics?

I get it. I see it. Heupel may be stubborn to a fault though like most coaches. His oline, particularly tackle, has hampered his style of offense. It depends on chunk plays and they didn't get them enough this year. Turned into a grind out play defense team.

Effort is there. However, he holds the ball way too long, stares down receivers and still is getting baffled by different defensive looks.
There’s no reason with his size and frame he should be rushing the ball 16-20 times a game. Hes not built like Milroe.
I’m also not sure he’s the answer.
In a RPO offense, we need him to run more. Now, 16-20 times is a lot and last night, he ran more than he ever has. But if it is to be somewhat successful, he has to run.

I think, we were not a great offense last season due to Milton’s lack of running as well.
