About those goal posts... [donation link]

This isn't about $$. It is about community.

Whether the Athletic Department already has a spare set of posts hidden under the bleachers (I'd bet they do) or not, and whether our program can afford some new ones without a hand (we can, about 10,000 times over) or not, this is Danny White continuing to build the community.

The idea is, we celebrated together, let's pay the price together. We're family, we pitch in. We're responsible adults, we accept the price for our exuberance.

I think that's all this is. It is endearing, self-effacing, and humorous, all at once.

Go Vols!

Are you saying the AD needs help from the fans to run the program? Ridiculous.

Do you think a major part of a an AD's job isn't fundraising? And who do you think we fundraise from? And why do they fundraise? Come on. The goal for this year is $35 million dollars in fundraising. $18 of that goal is corporate donations. The rest doesn't come from Bama fans.

P.S. it's voluntary

I could have sworn Danny White tweeted an image of the new ones, now I think he deleted the tweet and now they are asking fans for money to replace them? WTF??

Not a good look IMO.[/QUOno

No…heck no…with the cameras on that stupid action, find those who tore them down and put them in jail til the poses are paid for.

Yes I 100% think the AD needs help from the fans in terms of donations to help run the program. He is not just the AD of football. There will always be a need for money, no matter how much they have. Want to have big time programs? Gonna take big time money.

Could easily just rename the fundraiser to "We need another $10million a year to pay for Heupel and staff" if that makes you feel better.

Probably not outside of truth either.

SIGH!!!! Smart fundraising, kiddo. Plus, he knows we have a fan base that backs the UT with more than our mouths. And, I think donating a bit of funds for new posts makes you feel a more active and personal part of the UT. For those who think it is a bad look, phsaw!!! It creates even greater fame for a unique, one of a kind, bar none, fan base. Our checkered stadium is the envy of all CFB. I have no doubt we will see even overseas soccer fans trying something similar, inspired by us. We prevented our university from hiring a child molester collaborator. Our fans travel better than any anyone else's. WE overtly backed a kid fan who was mocked by his peers for wearing a homemade Vols t-shirt. A shirt he made when we were at our worst as a team. We did so in part because young as he was, bad as our teams were, he was all GO VOLS! When the whole darn world sees an American football team on the field decked out in orange and white, they know it's TENNESSEE. By gar, our school, our team, our stadium, our fans are legendary. Help pay for goal posts we pulled down and threw in the river? SURE, it simply adds to our legend. If you still haven't figured it out, bub, understand this. We're TENNESSEE!!!!!!!

I'd consider it if we didn't have to wait 20min in one line for regular concessions, then another 20min in another line for alcohol.

They can go the hell on with this

Well technically it was the fans who chose to storm the field and take down the goalposts. They should be responsible for some of the costs. Either way I'm sure many won't mind paying a bit of the bill to be part of such a historic occasion.

No different than any other time they ask for money. It’s his job to raise money for the university, I’m guessing some will be more than glad to give a few extra dollars after experiencing what they did last night.

I will donate $50 if they call and ask. Last night was the best game in my lifetime, and I’ve been to numerous games since I was a student in 1992. Fans of both teams were on the edge of their seats. So many twists throughout the 4th quarters and the atmosphere was electric! Crazy pregame , game and postgame celebrations!

I did the $52.49 (you know, score of the game) option. Glad to pitch in for a trip down to the river for those thirsty goal posts.

They don't need to call me. They're busy.

Go Vols!
