About those goal posts... [donation link]

Yeah, that has to be a joke, for multiple reasons.

Hoax Sent by an Alabama fan. Does anyone really think the university would send out correspondence using the word “Ya’ll” .? And reference getting beat for 16 years. Ridiculous, and major media got punked,

It’s not fake (not for the choice to do it or upset by it, just commenting on it).

Why would anyone be upset with this?

Fans pay for seats, donations, beer, tuition, NIL, seat backs, hot dogs, I could go on forever. The University honestly doesn't pay for that much relatively, and the goalposts themselves are literally pennies in the budget. It's like a dude sitting in a Ferrari asking you for a dollar so he can eat.

Don’t think it’s uncommon to have a fundraiser after fans storm the field. I’ve seen stuff like this before. Especially since UT just got fined for it. AD not gonna publicly condone it. Seems to me it’s a kick in the nuts to the SEC basically saying we don’t care. Fine us and we’ll have the cash tomorrow lol

So a new set of goalposts cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $150,000?? ($30,000 raised (20% of goal) X 5)

Seems a bit on the steep side

It seems like more than anything someone thought “Hey, this might be a good idea for a fundraising opportunity for the university. Here’s a fun idea I had.” And the rest of UT’s board/brass thought it to be a good idea or good potential opportunity for such.

I can’t comment on the cost of two goalposts. So I don’t know how high or low that number might be.

I presume things like transport, installation, and some other aspects would factor into the final number (like sometimes in some stadiums it’s installed into a mechanism that automatically lowers it after most games) but I can’t claim to know how much that would account for.

This is a playful way to ask for a donation by an AD having some fun. Relax a bit

Yeah... once I realized that number likely includes the cash for the fine I edited....

What Kills me is that when Fans spend the University Money for new Coaches, it's always bring out the Brink's truck. Well now they are asking for a donation of a few Dollars to replace Goal Post and or help pay the fine. So it is their problem. Give the Coaches what they want, not my money, Support the program because we are doing things we have not don in 16 + years. Nah. I have sent in my donation and the next year let's storm the Alabama field.

so if you actually click on the link, it's really not about affording goal posts - it strikes me as using the amazing win and celebration to fundraise. TN has always been quick to go after money after wins, this is just a bit more creative. I am not going to get irked with the guy who miracles of miracles brought us a great coach and seems to somehow manage the insanity and dysfunction that is the inner power circles at UT.

I wonder who fished them out of the river? I imagine somebody is going to make some serious change by cutting them up into pieces for souvenirs if they can authenticate them.
